Using the DNA recovered from Requin Tigre and Vigilante, Eden Force began experimenting on cloning a viable duplicate that could be used to replace Vigilante, whom they knew to be Francis Wayne, or to replace Arthur Howlett, also known as Requin Tigre. It was the hope that, should either individual become too dangerous or go against the will or plan of Eden Force, that a clone could be used to replace them and give Eden Force the ability to control Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος or have a spy within The T.I.T.A.N.S. whenever Requin Tigre or Vigilante join them on a mission.

When Specimen X-23 was created and determined a viable clone, they soon saw that the DNA was more along that of Vigilante. With that in mind, Specimen X-23, whom they named Damian Kinney, after the two lead scientists who created him, was trained in an extensive discipline of assassination techniques, martial arts and other fighting moves.

Despite looking like an exact duplicate of Vigilante, Damian shocked his handlers when, during a rough practice fight, bone claws grew from the back of his hands and one out of each foot. It seemed that some genetic patterns from Requin Tigre had been mixed in. Quickly the decision was made to lace the claws with liquid 8hbranium, making them nearly indestructible and razor sharp. During this painful process, another ability of Requin Tigre's activated and Damian healed from the burns and cuts quickly.

It was after this procedure that Damian escaped and sought out the real Vigilante, revealing the entire story of his creation and the reason behind it. Vigilante contacted Requin Tigre and the three of them discussed their response. Damian was the one who came up with the best answer. Damian had never felt comfortable in his own body and asked that, if possible, he become a woman, then, not only would she be true to herself, but would also stop anyone from using her as a replacement for Requin Tigre or Vigilante.

The problem was the healing powers. Would the transition surgery be undone with the healing powers undoing the changes? To that end, Requin Tigre employed the best surgeons and mystics of Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος in order to perform the surgery as well as permanently sealing Damian into the body with magic.

Over the course of several weeks, the transition was carried out and almost 6 months to the day of when Specimen X-23 escaped from the Eden Force facility, he was no longer a he, and Damian took the name Laura al Xu'ffasch (named after the top surgeon and Atlantean wizard who performed the transition surgery). Now, taking on the codename of Caracaras Laura wanders the world, sometimes teaming with Vigilante, and looking for others, like herself, who may need help escaping unjust imprisonment.

Archery: Caracaras asserted that her training with Eden Force gave her greater mastery of the bow, maybe even as good as Reyndzher.

Artistry: Caracaras is considered as skilled with a brush as she is with a sword.

Aviation

Cloned Meta-Mutation Physiology:

Laura al Xu'ffasch is a second generation meta-mutant, as well as being a clone, and possesses powers similar to those of her "father", Arthur James Atlan Howlett. Laura's accelerated cellular regeneration augments her natural strength, speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes.

_____Dexterity: Synchronized: Caracaras's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.

_____Disease Immunity: Due to her highly efficient immune system, she is immune to all Edenly diseases and infections.

_____Durability: Demi-Regenerative: She was capable of fighting Golem without sustaining any severe injuries and surviving energy blasts from Predecessor (even if she required healing and nearly died).

_____Foreign Chemical Immunity: Her natural healing also affords her the virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs. She can be affected by some drugs, such as tranquilizers, if she is exposed to a massive dose.

_____Longevity: Presumably, because Caracaras is the "daughter" of Requin Tigre, her healing factor will also provide her with an extended lifespan by slowing the effects of the aging process.

_____Psychic Defenses: Caracaras has demonstrated a level of resistance against psychic probes and attacks: Her defenses are strong enough to expel Kuhl's consciousness when she attempted to take over her body.

_____Reflexes: Superhuman: Caracaras's reflexes are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. In at least one case she reacts to and slices in half with her claws a bullet fired at her face from nearly point-blank range.

_____Regenerative Healing Factor: Like Requin Tigre, Caracaras's primary meta-mutant power is an accelerated healing factor that enables her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. She is capable of fully healing injuries resulting in massive tissue damage and blood loss such as multiple bullet wounds, slash wounds, and puncture wounds within a matter of minutes. Her healing factor is developed to such a degree, she is capable of reattaching severed limbs, such as a hand. She has also proven capable of regrowing an entire arm on her own. Her healing factor may fluctuate with her psychological state as battle wounds tend to heal very quickly, but her self-inflicted cuts appear to remain visible for some time.

_____Stamina: Superhuman: Caracaras's muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the muscles of an ordinary human. She can exert herself at peak capacity for about 24-hours before fatigue begins to impair her.

_____Superhumanly Acute Senses: Caracaras possesses superhumanly acute senses that are comparable to those of certain animals. She can see at much greater distances — and with perfect clarity — than an ordinary human, and her visual acuity is so refined she is able to see a single human cell with her naked eye. She retains this same level of clarity in near-total darkness. Her sense of hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, allowing her to both hear sounds that ordinary humans cannot and to hear sounds that ordinary humans can, but at much greater distances. She can use her highly developed sense of smell to track targets by scent with an impressive degree of success, even hours afterwards. She was even able to detect the victim of a killing had high cholesterol by scent alone.

Computer Hacking

Disguise: Caracaras has disguised herself as an elderly bus driver and a substitute teacher.

Driving: She learned to drive at the age of five. Keep in mind she was grown to full-size within a matter of months.

Escapology

Expert Covert Ops Training: Raised by Eden Force, due to her extensive training, Caracaras has been trained to become a living weapon. She is highly trained in the use of long range weapons and explosives, and is an expert in assassination techniques.

Expert Tracker: Due to her enhanced sense of smell, Caracaras is a dangerous tracker and has memorized many different scents.

Firearms

Intelligence: Genius: Caracaras has inherited a genius IQ from her "father," Vigilante. She possesses the ability to quickly process multiple information streams (e.g., threat assessment) and rapidly respond to changing tactical situations, being able to produce precise odds in different situations. Additionally, Caracaras has been stated to have a photographic memory.

Intimidation

Investigation: Caracaras, having received training under Vigilante, has been able to deduce people's actions as well as solve mysteries with few amounts of data.

Magic: Caracaras knows at least one magic spell, which allows her to conjure mystical chains to bind others.

Martial Arts: Trained by Eden Force, Caracaras has stated she knows just as many martial arts as Vigilante and can use them more effectively. This may be a largely overstated comment, but one should not ask for verification. Caracaras may not be physically tough looking, but she knows how to control her weight and has stated that she knows, "one thousand ways to kill a man." Caracaras's training has made her a formidable hand-to-hand combatant able to defeat or hold her own against multiple opponents, armed opponents or skilled hand-to-hand combatants.

Master Acrobat: She is an Olympic-class athlete, gymnast, acrobat, and aerialist capable of numerous complex maneuvers and feats.

Medical Science

Multilingual: Caracaras can speak fluent English, French, and Japanese. She says she is fluent in many other languages and has been shown speaking Russian.

Music

Pedagogy: She once taught a geology class for a day at Jack Power's school.

Stealth: Caracaras was able to sneak into the City of Shikaakwa and furthermore into The P.U.N.I.S.H.E.R. virtually undetected until she felt it necessary to show herself.

Swordsmanship

Throwing: Caracaras is trained by Eden Force in shuriken throwing and further trained by Vigilante in boomerang throwing.

8^thbranium: Laura's claws have been coated with the nigh-indestructible metal 8^thbranium. As a result, her claws are virtually unbreakable and are capable of cutting almost any substance, with the exceptions of 8^thbranium itself and Superion's original shield. Her ability to slice completely through a substance depends upon the amount of force she can exert and the thickness of the substance. Also, since the bones of her hands and wrists are not laced with 8^thbranium, it is likely that the reverberation of her claws could conceivably break her hands with significant force. Like Requin Tigre, the presence of 8^thbranium in her body is not sufficient enough to interfere with her bones' normal function of generating blood corpuscles, although it is just as possible that some degree of her immune system is distracted by the presence of the foreign substance. Bone Claws: Lauras's skeleton includes two retractable bone claws in each arm and one in each foot that she can extend and retract at will. These claws are housed beneath the skin and muscle. Unsheathing them causes her skin to tear and bleed, but the wounds are quickly dealt with by her healing factor. She can unsheathe any number of these claws at once, although she must keep her wrists and/or feet straight at the moment the claws emerge. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than normal human bone, allowing her to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials.

Arrogance: Often, Caracaras believes herself to be better than she really is. This has made her underestimate opponents as well as irritate her allies.

Oceans Blade: Like her "father", Requin Tigre, and Hisţiriŷā, Caracaras cannot heal from injuries caused by the Oceans Blade because it cuts on a molecular level. However, she can heal naturally from such wounds by cutting away the inflicted flesh with any other blade. The sword, which was constructed through some means, with the use of a piece of Requin Tigre's own soul, has the ability to greatly nullify the efficiency of an accelerated healing factor and possibly kill her. This weakness proves that a clone does not share the same soul as the source material.

Powerful Energy Blasts: Injuries such as being hit with blasts of energy from Predecessor that caused her to age cannot be healed; if she had been hit with it again she most likely would have died.

Self-Harm: Laura has a history of cutting herself with her claws due to feelings of depression and guilt. These wounds heal much slower than injuries inflicted by others. Laura first began practicing self-harm after being forced to kill her sensei early in her training, and her arms showed visible scars for some time after.

Age: Despite her appearance, Caracaras is technically only 13 years old. Her growth to adulthood only took months instead of years.

Animal Lover: Caracaras has claimed to own, and love, both cats and dogs, and has even recently shown a fondness for cows.

Chess Master: Laura once told Cosmic Storm that she never loses at chess.

Eating Habits: Caracaras is a self-professed vegetarian. She also demonstrates a preference for spicy foods.

Questionable Origins: Recent remarks made by Eden Force personnel has called into question the true genetic donors of Caracaras. While she does still show a genetic match to both Requin Tigre and Vigilante, there is a discrepancy that is unaccounted for.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that Laura is a partial clone. While her DNA is taken from both Requin Tigre and Vigilante, the egg that was fertilized belonged to Talia Kinney, the lead scientist who grafted the DNA originally. This information comes from The Engineer who was able to view Laura's genetic material in a database compiled by Dr. Sin (recovered by Caracaras herself), who had noted substantial amounts of Talia Kinney's DNA in Caracaras's genetic code.

Violent Hatred: Laura has demonstrated a violent aversion to, if not outright hatred of, human or sex traffickers.

What's That Smell?: It is stated that Caracaras, 'professional hard-case with zero patience', thinks bananas smell like nail polish remover.

Voice: If the Amalgam Universe 2.0 were to become a cartoon, the voice of Caracaras should be Erica Cerra.
