Summer's story starts with her dad. A ladies man. A male gigolo who specialized in charming the rich and powerful. And he was a sex addict. When his reputation began to decline he decided to move to North America where all the rumors, television shows, and movies told him was full of loose, rich women who wanted some international lover.

Of course, this sudden move to another country had everything to do with the fact that at least one of the "deflowered lord's daughters" had become pregnant by him. So off he went, never to look back.

It would be over two years of travelling and barely escaping angry husbands that he found himself hiding out in a small town in northern part of the California Protectorate. A town called Ceola. It was here that he met a young hippy girl who had a music shop, performed in a small band that performed locally in the only coffee shop, and had a small house almost completely surrounded by bird feeders of every type.

He couldn't help it. He fell in love. Less than a year later, they had a daughter whom they named Summer Laurel Bird. Neither parent thought it was right to lock their child in a family name that might be used to control their lives.

The two raised her to be free and to sing and dance and understand the connection between music, love and nature. Until puberty hit and her meta-mutant gland activated and her singing became shattering and her eyes could pulverize the wood her dad always chopped for the fireplace. But her parents did not back down. They took this as natures way of providing for something that may be in the future. And they worked with her and helped guide her and as a trio they managed to better understand her powers and the best course to use them.

It was her dad, while watching her mom perform, that came up with the idea that Summer use her abilities, in public, but to subtle effects. And to entertain. Soon she was performing with her mom and her voice could be heard around corners. Soon she added light shows with her eyes, telling people that her laser-eyes were just for effects. Over time she developed a reputation and was seen online by big names who paid a lot of money for her to perform for them.

Taking her school friends with her, Summer formed her group, DJ Reverb & the X-Factors, and they began to travel the world performing for some of the biggest names and companies.

At first, most of her money went back home to support her parents, but then, one day, they disappeared. It what would later be called the Roanoke Curse, almost the entire town of Ceola had disappeared. No building, tree, road, dog, cat, nothing was there but an empty dirt field. To increase the mystery, the investigation would find that everything within the original border of the town of Ceola was taken. Everything outside that line was still there.

Now, Reverb uses a large portion of her profits to fund research into what happened and where her parents, and the rest of the town, had disappeared to.

Despite that, Reverb remains relatively a carefree, happy, lover of nature and birds, and true to her outlook that meta-mutants and regular humans can work together, live together, and be happy, if they just look past the difference and see how each can benefit from the other.

Audiokinesis:

Reverb is a meta-mutant with a potent sonic attack, able to damage and stun foes or objects, to the point of shattering metal. She possesses an incredible degree of control over her vocal cords. This enables her to mimic sounds and generate any sound she desires, even developing several abilities. Her scream has been able to reach 300 decibels, which is enough to make a person's ears start bleeding even if they are not the attack target.

Energy Resistance: Reverb is resistant to the effects of her own powers. Even having her own sonic sound, or her optic blasts, reflected back on her will not affect her. It is an odd note of interest that the plasmonic energy generated by Secret also does not affect her, and her sonics and Optic Blasts do not affect Secret, either. It appears that their shared genetics seem to make each immune to the other.

Optic Blast:

Reverb possesses the ability to project a powerful beam of concussive, ruby-colored force from her eyes. Reverb's powers come from ambient energies (such as solar radiation, photons, and cosmic rays) absorbed and metabolized by her body into concussive blasts that are released from her eyes.

Reverb's mind has a particular psionic field that is attuned to the forces that maintain the apertures that have taken the place of her eyes. Because her minds psionic field envelops her body, it automatically shunts the other-dimensional particles back into their point of origin when they collide with her body. Thus, her body is protected from the effects of the particles, and even the thin membrane of her eyelids is sufficient to block the emission of energy. The synthetic ruby quartz crystal used to fashion the lenses of Reverb eyeglasses is resonant to her minds' psionic field and is similarly protected.

The width of Reverb eye-blasts seems to be focused by her minds psionic field with the same autonomic function that regulate her eyes' ability to focus. As Reverb focuses, the size of the aperture changes and thus act as a valve to control the flow of particles and the beams relative power. The intensity of Reverb's eye-blast is controlled by her iris's. Her narrowest beam, about the diameter of a needle at a distance of 4 feet has a force of about two pounds per square inch. Her broadest beam, about 90 feet across at a distance of fifty feet, has a force of about 10 pounds per square inch. Her most powerful eye-blast is a beam four feet across which, at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of 500 pounds per square inch. The maximum angular measurement of Reverb's eye-blast is equivalent to a wide-angle 35 millimeter camera lens field of view (90 degrees measured diagonally, or the angle subtended by holding a magazine's pages spread open, upright at 9.5 inches from your eyes). The minimum angular measurement is equivalent to the angle that the thickness of a pencil would subtend at 4 feet (3.5 degrees, about a quarter of an inch viewed at 4 feet). The beam's effective range is about 2,000 feet, at which point a 1-inch beam has spread out to 10 feet square, and then has a pressure of .38 pounds per square inch. Reverb's maximum force is sufficient to tip over a filled 5,000 gallon tank at a distance of 20 feet, or puncture a 1-inch carbon-steel plate at a distance of 2 feet.

The extra dimensional supply of energy for Reverb's eye-blast is practically infinite. Thus, so long as Reverb's psionic field is active (which is constant), there is the potential to emit energy. The only limit to the eye-blast is the mental fatigue of focusing constantly. After about 15 minutes of constant usage, the psionic field subsides and allows only a slight leakage of energy to pass through the aperture. Reverb's metabolism will recover sufficiently for her to continue in about an additional 15 minutes.

The maximum force of Reverb's optic blasts are unknown, but a commonly given description is that she can "punch holes through mountains", and she has been shown to rupture a half-inch thick carbon steel plate. It has been claimed that her beams can cut through Nthbranium, a supposed indestructible metal. It has also been implied that Reverb only utilizes a fraction of the energies at her disposal. When The Engineer measured Reverb's power while she was using her Optic Blasts to punch through the earth, creating a new well; he found the energy output was well over 2 gigawatts, larger than a large nuclear reactor, and plenty to power-up a flux capacitor. It is also stated that Reverb does not use her powers at such a high level due to the preoccupation she has regarding her control of her abilities. She prefers to control it, rather then let loose.

Spatial Awareness: Reverb possesses an uncanny sense of trigonometry, a term used to describe her observation of objects around herself and the angles found between surfaces of these objects. Reverb has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to cause her optic blasts, as well as her sonic iterations, to ricochet and/or reflect off those objects in a trajectory to her liking. This is commonly called a "banked shot" when applied to this talent. Reverb has been observed causing beams to reflect from over a dozen surfaces during one blast, and still hit her intended target accurately. When it comes to her voice, she intuitively knows the surface density of an object or barrier, and is able to pitch her voice to "bounce" or "echo" off the surface, allowing her to "turn corners" with her voice. It is her sense of spatial awareness, enhanced to superhuman levels, that allows her to perform these feats so well. In her shows, she uses both her voice and Optic Blasts to give her fans a truly unique performance by bouncing sound and lights off the surfaces around them.

Sound Immunity: While it has already been stated that she is immune to her own sonic powers, it is also worth noting that her eardrums have a thick membrane which makes her immune to the effects of her own powers as well as other loud noises.

Trajectory Bending: Reverb potentially has the capacity to will her optic blasts to twist and curve in any given direction without need of a solid surface to bounce off.

Martial Arts: She is one of the most skilled martial artists in the country. She has been trained by the likes of Tanager, The Silent Dragon, and, thanks to Warhawk, Reverb has been trained in the ancient fighting techniques of the Egyptians, but is strictly a novice in that kind of fighting style. Due to her sparring with Jade (they meet monthly, having developed a good working relationship), Reverb can perceive nanosecond reaction time, when fighting. Her known fighting styles are:

Multilingual: In addition to English, Reverb is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Russian. Her Japanese was implanted in her mind when she happened to meet Elbarani on the streets of Nippon-koku.

Music: Reverb practiced the harmonica as it was a perfect way to strengthen her breathing and vocal chords. She also has an amazing ear for rhythms making her career as a disc-jockey a perfect choice.

Ruby-Quartz Glasses: The glasses are made of synthetic ruby-quartz and are only worn to block any accidental Optic Blasts that may occur should Reverb become angry, scared, or otherwise distraught to the point that her ability lashes out in defense. The lens' somehow absorb the energy from her eyes and channel it through the frames and get reabsorbed back into her body.

Lost Sibling: After one concert in the Kingdom of England she met someone who claimed that he was her brother. At first she did not believe him until he showed her his power. Academy that his hunch was right. Reverb and Secret were half-siblings.
