History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

Born to Samuel James Power, and a fellow teen girl, both of whom were still in high school, Franklin Tyler Power was put up for adoption as neither teen was ready to be a parent. He was quickly adopted and renamed Rex James Hall.

Growing up with a passion for science, R.J. got a job with Bannerman & Tyler Chemical Research City where he continued to shine, getting promotion after promotion until he was creating new fields of research.

His first breakthrough occurred when he was 18 and was still an intern in the pharmaceutical research department. He managed to create Drug A39 that would give the subject extraordinary control over their personal gravitational field. Or so he told his boss, who did not believe him. So he took the drug himself to prove it worked. And it did!

However, when tested on other subjects, it seemed to only grant Aquatic Adaptation, Superhuman Agility, Superhuman Durability, Superhuman Stamina and Superhuman Strength for a limited time. For some reason, only R.J. was able to affect gravity.

Back at home, R.J. found out his 17-year-old girlfriend, Judy Margaret Harris, was pregnant. History repeated itself when the two of them, at the insistence of their parents, gave the child up for adoption just a few weeks after their son was born. They had named him Richard Alexander Hall.

When he was 40, R.J. found out that he had a biological younger brother named Corey Jules Power who was married and had a son. The two met and that is when R.J. found out his original name along with the story of why he was put up for adoption. This revelation, that he had done the same thing to his own son, made him anxious to find his son and apologize. If that was still possible.

Powers

Drug-Induced Powers:

Waitless derives all his superhuman abilities from the "miracle vitamin" Drug A39. These powers include:

Aquatic Adaptation: Drug A39 gives the subject the ability to breath underwater.

Flight: By decreasing the pull of gravity beneath him, he can fly at any speed or height at which he can still breathe. However, by using his force field generation he can also breathe in space.

Force Field Generation: He can also create a gravitational force field around him capable of protecting him from any concussive force up to and including a small nuclear weapon.

Gravitikinesis: Waitless possesses the ability to mentally manipulate gravitons (that carry the attractive, gravitational force between atomic nuclei), enabling him to control gravity. He can surround any object or person including himself with gravitons and anti-gravitons (particles similar to gravitons but with opposite charge and spin), thus increasing or decreasing the Earth's pull of gravity upon it.

Graviton Manipulation: Waitless can exert his gravitational control over a maximum distance of 2.36 miles from his body. Thus, the maximum volume of matter he could influence at once is 55.0585 cubic miles. He once exercised this control by lifting into the air an inverted conic frustum-shaped land mass whose uppermost area was 4 miles across, and causing it to fly as though it were a dirigible. He can also erect a gravitational force-field of similar proportions. Waitless can perform as many as four separate tasks simultaneously.

Graviton Attraction: He can also cause an inanimate object (such as a 1-foot diameter rock) to radiate enough gravitons to give it its own gravitational field, able to attract nearby matter and energy.

Graviton Blast: By rapidly projecting gravitons in a cohesive beam, he can generate a force blast with a maximum concussive force equivalent to the primary shock wave of an explosion of 20,000 pounds of TNT. If concentrated enough Waitless can exert is power to level a whole city.

Movement Impairment: By increasing the pull of gravity beneath his opponents, he can pin them to the ground, having made them too heavy to move, or cause sufficient gravitational stress to impair the normal functioning of the human cardiovascular system.

Superhuman Agility: Drug A39 gives the subject increased agility.

Superhuman Durability: Drug A39 gives the subject limited invulnerability.

Superhuman Stamina: Drug A39 gives the subject heightened stamina.

Superhuman Strength: Drug A39 gives the subject increased strength.

Abilities

Aviation: Experienced pilot.

Scientist: Experienced physicist as well as in Chemistry and Biology.

Paraphernalia

Drug A39: The active ingredient is a special form of phosphorus, which temporarily affects the positive and negative charges of the subjects atoms, granting the subject control over the gravitational field around them. Other physical changes or abilities are previously unforeseen side effects. The drug does not last long (see Weaknesses) though it is theorized that the frequency of use could lead to either a permanent set of powers OR a deteriorating drug addiction.

Weapons

Knockout Gas Ring: Should Waitless find himself among enemies when his powers fade, he can use his ring to emit a powerful knockout gas (that he has developed an immunity to) in order to render his enemies unconscious, giving him an opportunity to escape.

Weaknesses

60 Minute Time Limit: After a 60 minute time period, the "A39" burns itself out, and the waste toxins generated need to be eliminated in the bloodstream over about a 20 hour period. The burn-out period is roughly 5-minutes, meaning the powers and abilities will wane in strength until they completely stop. This gives the subject time to get somewhere safe before their powers and abilities are gone.

Trivia

(Physical Features/Speaking Voice/Likely Vocabulary/Characteristics/Mannerisms)

Birthday: His birthday is November 5th.

Drug Connection: It is still under investigation, but the drug META may be a derivative of Drug A39.
