History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

It is not often that legends come to life...or are proven true, but in this case...nope, still not true. At least, not completely.

You see, the whole traditional story of how the Tuath Dé Danann were banished from Heaven for their knowledge of magic and came down onto the land of Ynys Afallach in a mist...well that's just lazy writing. Yes, it's close, but if you can't be complete in your story-telling, then maybe stop talking. So, after centuries of hearing this "traditional" legend being passed down, Danu finally decided to set the record straight.

It wasn't like any of the other Fae could stop her. When you are one of the original Fae and was there when all the other "gods" were born, it's hard for them to feel like they can tell you what to do. However, in this case, Danu really wishes someone had at least tried to stop her because turning human, even temporarily, was probably the dumbest decision she had ever made.

But she had a mission and she was not going to let the restrictions of being a lesser...being stop her.

Using her magic, Danu crafted a new persona as Zanette Zatanna wrote a book about the truth of how her people, the Fae, truly came to be and her rise to become the Divine Ambassador to the Elemental Kingdom. She then made it into a screenplay called The Coming of The Ents which was picked up by Netflix which also cast her as the starring role. This streaming series quickly made her a sought after actress in Hollywood. This allowed her to move around the world easily as well as to influence culture through social media, news and even her film projects.

Now, Zanette continues her journey as a human, while also reverting to her Fae-self in order to help fight criminals, would-be world conquerors, and sleazy talent scout/producers. Occassionaly, she will consult for The Night's Guard when dealing with members of the Dark Fae.

Fae Physiology:

Due to her origins as a member of the Fae, or Fairy Folk or Fair Folk, Zanette (as she is known by now) is made of magic. This allows her, through magic, to do the following:

Magic: Zanette is made of magic and therefore her unique genetic structure allows her to use the magic she was born into, as well as learned magic. As a tribute to her father, and as a focus for her spells, she casts spells by speaking backwards or "Logomancy". For example, saying "pots" would cause the target of the spell to stop in their tracks. She's feared and famed as one of most powerful magic users on the planet and mortal plane.

Antipathy: Zanette can reverse physical trauma so all damage that comes to her will hit her target instead.

Chronokinesis: Zanette can move time forwards or backwards or even stop time on demand.

Deflection: Zanette can return energy projections sent to her back to their source without loss of momentum or power.

Dimensional Travel: Zanette can travels through dimensions through portals she opened with magic.

Eldritch Blast: Zanette can blast enemies with mystical energy.

Elemental Control: Zanette can manipulate magical elements such as:

_____Aerokinesis: Generate and manipulate magical wind.

_____Cryokinesis: Generate cold and manipulate magical ice crystals.

_____Electrokinesis: Generate electricity and manipulate magical lightning.

_____Geokinesis: Generate and manipulate magical rocks.

_____Hydrokinesis: Generate and manipulate magical water.

_____Photokinesis: Generate and manipulate magic lights.

_____Pyrokinesis: Generate heat and manipulate magical fire.

_____Umbrakinesis: Generate and manipulate magic shadows.

Energy Construct Creation: Zanette can use her magical energies to create inanimate objects such as traps or devices to suit her needs.

Energy Transference: Zanette once forced a "nightmare" demon into the dreams of hundreds of people to split him apart then locked him away in her Magic Pouch.

Flight: Zanette can fly or levitate as a full human, however she says that this requires a lot of energy and concentration and therefore she chooses not to fly if possible. Usually she uses her fae wings to get around when she is smaller.

Force Field: Zanette can create magical shields to withstand bullets, blasts, blows and explosions. The greater the size or density of the shield the more effort it takes Zanette to hold. Interestingly, this is not dependent on her size. A shield to protect her 5.4-inch self takes very little effort compared to protecting her full-size human form.

Healing: Zanette can heal herself or whoever she choses from most injuries.

Insect Communication and Control: Through the use of her retractable antennae, Vespa can communicate with and control certain higher insects. She rarely chose to utilize this ability in the past. Recently, she aquired a helmet to increase her control range and has been experimenting periodically with its capabilities.

Phasing: Zanette can make herself into her "phantom form" and become intangible.

Reality Alteration: She can manipulate reality at will to inflicts confusions and mental trauma on her target.

Size Alteration: Zanette can increase or decrease her size or the size of others to any conceivable size.

_____Size Reduction: Vespa can reduce herself in size, down to the dimensions of the insect from which she takes her name, roughly 1/2 inch in height. She usually chooses not to retain her standard density while at this reduced mass, but can choose to do so at will. The "lost" mass is shunted to a pocket dimension for later retrieval. Additionally, her strength is boosted while she is at reduced size, to the extent that she can bend a one-inch diameter steel bar almost double. Her size allows her to be easily unnoticed in most cases, allowing her to become stealthy in some cases.

_____Size Addition: In addition to being able to shrink, Vespa can grow significantly in size as well. The growth process requires the rapid acquisition of bodily mass, presumably from an extra-dimensional source. This extra-dimensional mass fortifies all of her cellular tissues, including her bones and muscles, making it possible to support her increased weight, and giving her superhuman strength and durability.

Telekinesis: Zanette can move/obtain objects at a distance with her spells.

Telepathy: Zanette can also read minds, view and erase memories of others with or without the person's consent.

Teleportation: She can send herself and/or anyone to anyplace she/they wish to visit without any space/time restrictions.

Transformation: Zanette can turn anything into anything else, essentially. For instance, she has turned bullets into paper airplanes as well changing her clothes instantly. Most often she changes violent objects into harmless things.

Vespa's Sting: Vespa can generate powerful bio-electric blasts from her hand that have been shown to be capable of cutting through high-density structures and is able to cause extreme pain to superhumanly strong and highly durable beings and can pierce their skin.

Weather Manipulation: Zanette can control and affects the weather in a certain area.

Abilities

Art by: Tati MoonS

Astral Projection: Zanette's consciousness can leave her physical body and travel to other planes of existence.

Fighting: EXPERT: Zanette had adapted to a special kind of hand-to-hand combat that was created by her people, which takes advantage of the fighter's insect size against a much larger form and physique enabling them to strike pressure points before the opponent even realizes what happened. She was also trained in multiple martial arts and unarmed combat fields by Sentinel, making her into an adept combatant.

Gifted Actress: Zanette is considered one of the greatest actresses of her time and has done movies with nearly every A-lister in Hollywood. She's also an astute diplomat and an avid student of public relations.

Gifted Screenwriter: Zanette wrote a script, The Coming of The Ents, which detailed her early adventures as the Divine Ambassador to the Elemental Kingdoms when she provided the platform for interactions between the Fairy Folk and the Leprechauns. Her screenplay so impressed representatives at the Pym Talent Agency, that they set up a meeting between her and REDACTED, one of the most financially successful producers and talent scouts in Hollywood.

Hypnosis: Zanette can hypnotize anyone and command them to do anything she pleases.

Meditation: Through meditation, Zanette can astral project.

Multilingual: Zanette could speak fluent English, Dwarf, Spanish, Dragon, Hungarian, Ogre, French, Goblin, Italian and, of course, Fae. She has also taught herself to speak the language of the Microverse.

Occultism: As a chronicler of magic she possesses an extensive understanding of occult lore due to her mystic background.

Prestidigitation: Zanette is a greatly skilled magician and an expert illusionist, therefore performing extraordinary (real) tricks and incredible illusions is super simple to her.

Talented Fashion Designer: Zanette is a very talented fashion designer. During her early days as Vespa, she would constantly make new costumes for herself and wear different ones for almost every new mission. Over the years her talent has earned her great acclaim in the fashion world. Zanette's talents also extend to designing costumes for other superheroes, including Mirage, Royal Hawk and Peridella. She possesses enough costumes of her own to fill an entire closet or two.

Helmet: Her helmet is a recent addition and was designed by Melltithio who was honored to help a member of the Fae, whom he believes are the original Homo Magi. The Helmet allows her to communicate with any communications network, as well as amplify her ability to command insects.

Magic Wand: Usually, she is often seen with a magic wand, although whether it is a stage prop or an actual focus for her power remains unknown. She does not need it though, considering her recent appearances without one and being able to cast spells effectively.

Magic Pouch: She can project energies/objects out from her Magic Pouch or even take out any equipment she needs. The Magic Pouch can also be used as a portal or a dungeon to capture and trap her target in it for as long as she wants. It is also unknown if it's just a stage prop or a focus for her power. And just like her Magic Wand, she does not need it in order to use her magical powers.

Wings: Due to her Fae wings, Vespa can fly at incredibly fast speeds. These are functional when she reduces herself in height, and can remain so until reaching a height that is nearly a foot shorter than her normal height. Her flight speed can also allow her to gain a form of superhuman reflexes and agility, being able to easily evade targets and attacks.

Weaknesses

Mnemonic Incantation: One of the side-effects of being in human form, Zanette casts her spells by saying the words of her incantations backwards. Mnemonic incantation is the most complicated of the mystic arts. On one occasion, the assassin X-Terminator delivered a direct blow to her liver, initiating a regurgitation reaction. On a separate occasion, Jester (disguised as the stage magician The Clown Prince) shot Zanette in the neck, rendering her magic useless. She must be able to speak or read backwards in order for her to focus her spells. Reducing herself to her normal Fae size allows her access to all her magic, without need of incantations. But she still does use them to stay in practice.

Pupaphobia (Formerly) : Zanette used to have an intense fear of puppets rooted from a traumatic event in her long life when her spell to turn an old mans prized wooden puppet into a real boy, somehow attached itself to that type of wood, and down through time, more and more puppets began to come to life, forcing her to confront and destroy them. Just the mere sight of a puppet could cause her to become nauseous or make her lose her focus. She seems to have overcome this phobia after a therapy session. But only time will tell.

Vulnerability to Magic: Powerful enchantments against beings of magic, like gods, are able to restrict her as well, preventing her from accessing enchanted places or dispel the adverse charm. Harmful magical realms such as Hell can also hinder how often she can speak her spells and can cause her great physical damage.

Trivia

(Physical Features/Speaking Voice/Likely Vocabulary/Characteristics/Mannerisms)

Sneaky Sneaky: As one of her combat tactics, Vespa once pretended to be Mirage while in her shrunken state.

SPIDER!: Vespa has an evident aversion to Muraña and Dark Web, attributing it to the fact that wasps and spiders are natural enemies.

I Proclaim You: Vespa was responsible for choosing the name The T.I.T.A.N.S. for the team, expressing it to be something "dramatic and colorful."

Food Preference: Zanette is a vegetarian.

Place to Call Home: Zanette owns a mansion called Shadowcress, in which she keeps a vast library of magical knowledge, as well as an arsenal of powerful relics, enough to do "just about anything you'd want to do". Shadowcress seems to exist in a completely different dimension, although it is initially located along the edge of one of the Great Lakes.

Ironic Role: Ironically, her role in the latest live-action adaptation of Peter Pan as Tinker Bell, is considered her worst performance as an actress. Rotten Tomatoes claimed: "Her role as a fairy was so cheesy and childish that it very nearly ruined the whole movie. It was just so unbelievable that she was a pixie".

Danger's Her Middle Name: Her codename, Vespa, is based on the Japanese Giant Hornet, also called the "murder hornet" as it is the 2nd most deadly wasp in the world.

What's In A Name: Her name, "Danu" means: wisdom, knowledge, wealth, abundance, and teacher.
