Elaine Vulcana Ephaestus is a product of in-vitro genetic manipulation. During one of those freak coincidences, a scientist named Elaine, from Starshield Labs, was on vacation at an archaeological dig when she stumbled upon a vial that was believed to have been some kind of potion. But in deciphering the inscription, Elaine realized that this vial contained the blood of a being that should have been a myth, Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire, also known as Vulcan.

Stealing the vial from the dig, Elaine took it back to Starshield Labs where she was quickly equipped with her own genetics lab with the task of cloning or creating a super-powered being. It took nearly a year, but she was successful when she realized that cloning wasn't an option, but splicing the DNA coding from the ancient blood sample with human DNA could work.

Whether karma or just good fortune, Elaine went out clubbing to celebrate the discovery of splicing and a few days later, found herself pregnant. It was the perfect opportunity and before she could be stopped, she introduced the splicing procedure with her own embryo, and it worked.

According to all the testing by the rest of her team, who had been shocked and appalled at her actions, Elaine's fetus had been successfully altered by the grafting of the ancient DNA. The pregnancy went forward on schedule and nine months to the day, a baby girl was born, completely surprising everyone as all scans said it should have been a boy. Naming the new child after her mother, they also decided to give her the names of those she takes her DNA from and on November 7th, 1963 Elaine "Eve" Vulcana Ephaestus was born.

Eve is now 95 years old and seems to have stopped aging at the age of about 25. During the program, Eve met Drake Alkalie and the two became in-synch with their movements and thoughts, though she sometimes was linking them mentally.

The mission objectives for the two of them would be to travel to near-by planets and determine viability for colonization. Should they come into contact with alien life, if the culture was already exploring space, then First Contact would be made. If the alien life was not yet ready to explore the stars, or were considered too aggressive, then a message was sent to Earth and that planet, and system, would be placed off-limits to exploration or colonization.

Should a planet be found to be without life, but could be terraformed for colonization, then together, she and Adam (Drake's codename for the mission) would use their vast powers to create an atmosphere and planetary environment that would eventually support human life. Once that task was complete and beacons were set for colony ships to land safely, the pair of them would climb aboard The Olympus and head out in search of alien friends among the stars.

Amaranthine Physiology:

Due to her partial Amaranthine genetics, Eve has an assortment of powers. However, whether due to her genetics or her body having been altered in-vitro and therefore open to further adjustments, when The Great Burn swept across the planet, the psionic abilities of her Amaranthine DNA were unlocked, and she gained psionic powers that more than rival those of the strongest telepaths and telekinetics on the planet.

So far she has not shown she has access to all the powers of a member of the Amaranthine race, but the powers she has developed are:

Immortality: Since her genetics are taken from the Amaranthine, it may be that Eve is functionally immortal and stopped aging in 1988.

Pyrokinesis: As her genetics are taken from Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire, she also can generate and control fire.

Self-Resurrection: Eve has been able to resurrect herself by either using her psychic powers or through her sheer force of will. Eve has been able to resurrect herself by reconstructing her body out of psionic energy after it was vaporized, much to her own surprise. Eve was even able to fully resurrect herself after being clinically dead after encasing herself in a glacier of ice on another planet. It is believed this is also partially due to the genetic template taken from Hephaestus.

Telekinesis: Projection of psychokinetic energy enables her to levitate objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes, lift herself and move through the air to simulate flight, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, generate concussive force as blasts or bursts, and create protective shields.

_____Force Field: She can create a telekinetic field to either shield her and her teammate or use it to lift multiple heavy objects at her enemy.

_____Tactile Telekinesis: She has the power to utilize a personal force field of telekinetic energy.

Telepathy: Eve is the most notable, powerful, and skilled telepath in the entire Amalgam Universe. She can read thoughts, project, and broadcast her own thoughts, as well as interact with, affect and even manipulate the minds of humans and animals with higher order intelligence (such as dolphins, ravens, cats or dogs). She has demonstrated the following specialized uses:

_____Telepathic Defense: She can manifest her telepathy in several defensive ways.

    _____Telepathic Cloak: She can mask her presence and the use of her abilities from being detected by other psions and devices. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful psions may notice and "see" through this ability.

    _____Psychic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and the minds of others.

    _____Telepathic Illusions: She can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.

    _____Telepathic Camouflage: She can alter the apparent physical appearance of herself and other people by altering the perceptions of those around her. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). A limit, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people she is trying to fool, not the number of people she is camouflaging.

_____Telepathic Manipulation: She can manipulate other people's minds, achieving a variety of effects. This does not come easily to her and the more she must do, the more difficult it is and the more strain it takes on her.

    _____Memory Alteration: She can erase, implant, restore or alter the memory of others.

    _____Mind Control: She can control the thoughts and actions of others.

    _____Mind Possession: She can possess the mind of another and use that being's body as her own.

    _____Personality Alteration: She can alter the minds of others by force of will, thus permanently changing their personality partially or entirely.

    _____Mental Paralysis: She can induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.

    _____Mental Amnesia: She can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.

    _____Mind Transferal: She can transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if her own physical body was somehow killed.

    _____Heal Trauma: She can erase a person's memories and to heal mental trauma through "psychic surgery", as well as the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a person's brain.

    _____Mental Sedating: Can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them.

    _____Neural Jumpstart: She can increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, which could increase a meta-mutant's powers to incredible levels, but the effect is only temporary.

    _____Dilate Power: Ability to place "psychic inhibitors" in the minds of adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.

    _____Mind Link: She can bond other minds allowing them to communicate telepathically between them.

_____Psychic Blast: She can project psychic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind, causing them pain, knocking them unconsciousness or turning the victim "brain-dead".

_____Astral Projection: She can project her astral form from her body onto the Astral Plane or the physical plane. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the Astral Plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others through time.

_____Mental Detection: She can sense the presence of another meta-mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of herself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.

Teleporation: Eve can teleport herself from her current location to Earth and back again. However, she can only teleport herself back to the exact spot she left at either location.

Expert Pilot: Eve is the pilot of The Olympus she and Adam use to travel the galaxy.

Fighting: MASTER: Master of a single form of fighting technique, including an armed and unarmed version.

Mechanical Engineering: Eve is the engineer and craftsman of the crew always coming up with new gadgets. Her engineering bay looks more like a blacksmithry, just full of high-tech gear she's working on.

Coronis: An artificially intelligent robotic crow that acts as a scout while on planet, it is named after Apollo's mistress in ancient texts.

Viscero-Combustor: This body armor-type vest acts as protection one moment and then, with a telekinetic push of a button it can be transformed into a weapon or tool. As a tool it can be used to breakdown material placed in it, into its elemental parts to be used for constructing other materials. As a weapon it can channel psionic energy into a range weapon causing the bonds in whatever non-organic material it hits, to breakdown.

Hammer: While she prefers to use her hammer for forging new gadgets or sculptures, her preferred weapon in combat, outside of her psionics, is her hammer, which she reinforces telekinetically.

Friendship: During their travels, several cosmic powered beings will stop to visit Eve and Adam. One of those is Cosmic Storm who has become Eve's best friend.

Feared: Onyx has stated that she is extremely glad that Eve is not on Earth very often as she feels that much power in one person is something everyone needs to fear.
