History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

It was in the 1860's when a group of outcast scientists decided to relocate to Commonwealth of Australia where, financially backed by the underground sales of organs harvested from the aboriginals, a secret bunker was constructed right in the middle of the Great Victoria Desert.

Off the grid due to advanced technology in harvesting the power of the sun the underground complex expanded and soon the scientists were doing more than taking organs from kidnapped Aboriginal Australians. They began to experiment on them. Assessing their biology, adding in technology, all with the goal of learning how to create a mindless killing machine that they could replicate on others.

These people, with no morals or compunctions about what they were doing, were ruthless in their testing and handling of their subjects. To them, the Aboriginal Australians were not even considered human. This is just one area where they underestimated the people they were killing.

One day, in late 1871, one of the experiments managed to override the programmed commands and turned on her torturers. With vicious and righteous anger, the tribe member swept through all the pitiful defenses within the compound, killing every single person she came across until she got to the main core of the compound and detonated herself, sending an electromagnetic pulse for a mile in every direction. Everything shutdown, and any who had escaped death at her hands, would find that they were in for a slow death as all water, food and air shafts had shut down. Many committed suicide, while some struggled to the end trying to repair the systems. None of them looked to check on their subjects.

If one had ventured down to the third level, where they held their experiments in stasis, they would have found that the failsafe had not all failed. In fact, two were still active, though one showed sign of damage and drained battery. The EMP had been buffered by the tanks surrounding those two, with one having been spared the pulse completely.

In 2038 when the Great Burn raced across the planet, both above and below ground, it triggered the lone tanks activation protocols, awakening the tribe member within. Staggering through the hallways, he searched for any clue as to his identity for his mind had been wiped of anything that wasn't programming. When he came across the vault door marked EXIT, and unable to open it, he began to pound on it. Without tiring he continued to pound, slowly making a slight dent in the door, but he would not quit.

Up above ground a local hunting party was traveling at night to avoid the desert heat when they heard the pounding coming from below ground. Thinking it was the heartbeat of the earth, the group stopped to listen and each reached out, laying a hand on the ground to feel the thrum of the pounding.

At the vault door, running low on energy, the cyborg tribesman finally broke down the door, which began a cave-in as decades of dirt, sand and rock had built up. Able to use his x-ray vision, provided by his cybernetic eye-patch, the tribesman used the last vestiges of his energy to leap up through the thinning layer of earth, separating him from the surface.

As the hunters chanted above, the ground began to rumble and suddenly a tribesman erupted out of the ground, landing on his feet. His cybernetics seemed to gleam from the moonlight with some of his circuitry casting a soft blue glow as he looked around at the hunters now kneeling in a circle.

Looking at one of the hunting party members, the cyborg unconsciously switched to their dialect and asked, "Do you know who I am?"

The hunter raised himself to his feet and said, "You are yolŋupaṉa."

The cyborg thought about it. Yolŋupaṉa meant "man from the earth". It fit. For now. But one day he will find out who he was and what was done to him and why.

Looking around at each of the men around him, he glanced at his hands, "Yes, I am Yolŋupaṉa."

Cybernetic Enhancements:

Yolŋupaṉa possesses several superhuman traits due to the synthetic and cybernetic augmentation of his body, including strength, endurance, and durability. Yolŋupaṉa can also interface with computers. Built into his body-armor are an infrared eye, computer generator, sound amplifier/white noise cannon and special programming adapters that allowed him to interface with other body extensions.

Adaptive Countermeasures: Yolŋupaṉa's systems are capable of fabricating and initializing any number of technological adaptations to deal with any adversary he comes across. Ex. creating synthetic radiation and redistributing energy for a phasing meta-mutants. Even creating an anti-possession frequency against an overshadowed opponent, like those who are mind-controlled.

Computer Interfacing

Computer Thought: Yolŋupaṉa's brain now functions like that of a computer so his augmented brain is integrated to the point that volition is often the result of computer heuristic algorithms rather than conscious free will thinking.

Dexterity: Alt-Enhanced: Yolŋupaṉa's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are about five times that of the finest human athlete.

Durability: Alt-Enhanced: Yolŋupaṉa's bodily tissue is somewhat more resistant to physical injury than an ordinary human. He can withstand great impact forces that would cripple or kill an ordinary human with only mild discomfort. Due to most of his skeletal system being replaced with hydraulics and reinforced with molybdenum-steel, his bones are far more resistant to fractures and breakage than an ordinary human's. The nature of Yolŋupaṉa's body also provides him with natural body armor offering resistance versus energy attacks.

_____Nanobionic Regeneration: Yolŋupaṉa's robotics give him the ability to physically recover his damaged circuitry in the event of catastrophic structural impairment.

Fighting: Alt-Enhanced: He downloaded fighting techniques and now is a formidable hand to hand combatant.

Material Assimilation: Yolŋupaṉa can consciously integrate new forms of machines and cybernetics into his own bionic physiology in order to further enhance himself.

Power Absorption: Yolŋupaṉa's bionic components have the ability to siphon the powers of others within close proximity.

Reflexes: Alt-Enhanced: Yolŋupaṉa's reflexes are enhanced to levels that are about 20 times faster than that of an ordinary human due to artificial response and analysis reflexes.

Sensor Systems: Yolŋupaṉa has optic, thermal and motion sensors just to name a few.

Shape-Change: He can reshape parts of his body into various weapons and technological equipment. His arsenal included a finger laser attachment, telescopic eyepiece, sonic disruptor, electric shockers, grappling hooks, winches, and metallic tentacles.

Speed: Land: Enhanced: Yolŋupaṉa is capable of running and moving at speeds greater than even the finest human athlete.

Stamina: Alt-Enhanced: Yolŋupaṉa's artificial musculature generates less fatigue toxins than the musculature of an ordinary human. He can exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue begins to impair him.

Strength: Level-10: At optimal capacity, Yolŋupaṉa can lift/press in excess of seven metric tons. If he pushes himself, he can even exceed ten tons, but not without causing severe stress to his cybernetic components.

Weapons

Gun: Yolŋupaṉa has a variety of weapons including a 150 watt/second helium-neon laser pistol.

Dagger: He also carries a 9-inch throwing dagger which can be magnetically attached to his calf when not in use.

Voice: If the Amalgam Universe 2.0 were to become a cartoon, the voice of Yolŋupaṉa should be Mark Coles Smith.
