Avatar Physiology:

As with all avatars, Mamont-khranitel' (not his birth name) was granted a new form when he was chosen to become the vessel of the Mammoth God. By calling out the name of the mammoth god, "Mamont-khranitel'" Maksimus is able to become the avatar. To change back he only needs to will it and he will revert back to his human self. The abilities he has shown so far, granted by the spirit of the mammoth god, include:

Corrosive Expulsion: Mamont-khranitel' possesses the ability to expel highly corrosive stomach acid from his mouth. While he is immune to the corrosive effects, the acid is able to dissolve and eat through most conventional materials.

Extended Lifespan: While he is Mamont-khranitel' he will not age. But when he reverts back to his human form, he will age at a normal human pace. While this can extend his lifespan, it does not mean Maksimus will not die eventually.

Superhuman Durability: Mamont-khranitel' possesses a tough, elephant-like skin, muscle and bone tissues that renders him highly resistant to conventional physical injury. Mamont-khranitel' can withstand tremendous impact forces, high caliber bullets, falls from great heights, powerful energy blasts, attacks from most bladed weapons, and exposure to temperature extremes without sustaining injury.

Superhuman Stamina: Mamont-khranitel's physical stamina is such that he possesses greater physical stamina than any ordinary human, or elephant/mammoth, and can exert himself at his peak for up to 24 hours before the buildup of fatigue toxins in his blood began to impair him.

Superhuman Strength: Mamont-khranitel' is superhumanly strong and, at his peak, possesses sufficient superhuman strength to lift up to 20 tons.

Diminished Intellect: He is not dumb or stupid, he just cannot learn anything knew. His mind and intellect is frozen in its capability of learning anything knew. He retains perfect recollection of all that he knew up until he became avatar of the mammoth god, and he recalls all that the mammoth god knows, but learning new languages, technologies,fighting techniques, etc.; that is beyond him. But as the mammoth god has thousands of years of knowledge and experience and fighting skills, Mamont-khranitel' is still a force to be reckoned with.

Job To Do: Maksimus Flinders is 55 years old, making him an elder among his people. He was chosen at the age of 35 and has been Guardian of Russia since the Great Burn and will continue until he dies and another is chosen.
