History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

The Polynesian gods were deeply shocked and angered when Germany and Austria-Hungary began the event later called World War I. This caused the criss-crossing of the Pacific Ocean and, eventually, led to another World War, once again perpetuated by Germany, that brought death and destruction to Hawaii.

The Polynesian gods were appeased by the involvement of their worshippers who prayed to them in greater quantity as war brought need for deities.

But then peace reigned and the worshippers faded as did the powers and presence of the Polyesian gods. Until, once more, they were awakened by the horror-filled cries of their people as death reigned down around the world when Japan's nuclear missiles fell back to Earth. This time the gods decided to step in more forcefully.

Searching their scattered people they found the descendant of the last High Priest, Pa'ao, who had been the only one to know that all the gods of Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga and other nations were actually the same gods. The gods tracked down the descendant of their most favored High Priest and found him attempting suicide. He was trying to hang himself before the missiles could strike his home. Ian Peniamina was confronted by the overpowering spirits of the Polynesian gods and given incredible powers in order to walk among his people as a reminder of their existence.

Once in his new body, Peniamina called out the name of the chief god, Tagaloa and magical lightning came out of the sky, striking him and turning him into a being with immense god-like powers.

Imbued with the understanding that his power is based on that of the gods, who rely on their worshippers, Ele'ele 'O Rokk now acts not only as ambassador as a member of The Foundation, but also has become something of a priest, telling all who will listen about the Polynesian gods who empower him.

Power of the Polynesian Gods:

Upon saying the magic word, Tagaloa, Ian Peniamina can transform into a new body with powers directly granted by various Polynesian gods. These powers include:

Accelerated Healing: Peniamina has displayed the ability to use the transformative lightning, sent by Te Uira, to heal others or himself instantly from wounds inflicted on his mortal form.

Divine Grace: Innate luck and divine guidance that allows finesse in actions and dealings with others.

Flight: He can hover or soar at high speeds through an act of sheer will thanks to the power of Fa'atiu, god of wind and storms.

Immortality: As long as he remains in his empowered form he does not age.

Indomitable Will: An incredible amount of willpower that allows perseverance in overwhelming odds and seemingly unbeatable situations. It also grants him great resistance to telepathic intrusions or mind control.

Invulnerability: This aspect is physical and partly psychological, and gives Peniamina superhuman amounts of inner strength to draw off from, while also making him indestructible to harm.

Magic Lightning: Peniamina can use Te Uira's magical lightning bolt as a weapon by dodging it and allowing it to strike an opponent or target.

Self-Sustenance: The ability to survive without sleep, food, water, or air.

Sorcery: The power of the god Kapo enhances his other physical abilities and allows for inter-dimensional travel.

Superhuman Reflexes

Superhuman Sensory Adaptation: Though his senses are not superhumanly acute, his five senses can withstand greater amounts of sensory stimuli than he could when he was a normal human being, with no reduced sensitivity.

Superhuman Speed: By channeling Fa'atiu's speed, Peniamina can move at hypersonic speeds and steadily run at these superhuman speeds.

Superhuman Stamina: Using 's endurance, Peniamina can withstand and survive most types of extreme physical assaults. Additionally, he can survive unaided in space.

Superhuman Strength: Peniamina has phenomenal levels of super strength that rank him as one of the strongest beings on Earth, able to easily bend steel, punch through walls and lift massive objects with little difficulty. Peniamina's strength is enough that he can at least lift 100 tons while weakened.

Teleportation: Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes, grants Peniamina the ability to teleport to any Polynesian island with a volcano. The volcanoes seem to act like respawn points.

Trivia

(Physical Features/Speaking Voice/Likely Vocabulary/Characteristics/Mannerisms)

Favorite Food: Once, while in New York City, he became obsessed with the pizza served there and now his favorite food is pizza, especially New York Pizza.

Food Dislikes: He dislikes mayonnaise, at least on his sandwiches.

Rock-like Form: Made of black lava rock. Ele'ele 'O Rokk's body is composed of a black, flexible, rock-like hide. His skin is apparently susceptible to "drying" or what in a normal human being would be called loss of skin oil, for his skin can be "chipped" under certain circumstances.

Suicidal Evidence: When he reverts to his human form, Ele'ele 'O Rokk has a scar that runs horizontally across his throat. It is evidence of the suicide attempt and cannot be healed. As he almost never takes human form, the scar is rarely visible.
