Reyko gained his powers while on an expedition in the Independent Nation of Antarctica when he came across the Cobalt Scarab Gem of Karottyc.

That is the official story that Kaino created upon his return to the Metropolitan Nation of Terra Australis. The truth is far more sinister and has caused Starshield Labs to assign an entire task force just to keep an eye on Behemoth and be prepared to take him out should he ever hint at turning criminal again.

This is because Kaino Jaime Reyko used to be an eco-terroist. While it is unkown who he worked for, but Kaino was one of a group of enforcers who were sent to Independent Nation of Antarctica in order to take the scientists hostage and secure a base for future venture onto the continent, giving control to whoever can hold the base.

But the scientists managed to escape into some underground tunnels where a hot-headed member of Kaino's crew tossed some grenades, in an attempt to kill the scientists Kaino had been sent to capture.

As the ground shook, Kaino knew that the deaths of the scientists was going to make his employer angry, so he hurried back into the stations garage, grabbing a snowski, and headed out to an archaeological dig that he had been told was secretly being carried out at the base of a pyramid found buried under centuries of ice and snow.

His leaving the station when he did allowed him to escape death at the hands of the new meta-mutant, Glacier whose gland had activated when the grenade had started to collapse the tunnels the scientists were hiding in.

Upon reaching the secret dig site, the scientist back at the base would not be arriving for a while, giving Kaino time to rifle through what the excavation had uncovered already. That's when his hand closed on a seemingly insignificant blue gem shaped with copper into the form of a scarab. The moment he touched it, energy coursed through his body, and the scarab crawled up his arm, across his chest and burrowed into his skin and sternum, settling there and healing the hole it had created.

Kaino watched in stunned horror as armor began to appear on his body and his body began to grow and increase in mass and strength. Soon he stood over 9-feet tall and was completely encased in a strange blue-n-black armor that began to fill his mind with instructions on the capabilities of his new armor.

Kaino, now calling himself Behemoth launched into the sky, heading back home to the Metropolitan Nation of Terra Australis, where he would tell the story of having found this alien device on a private expedition.

The Cobalt Scarab Gem of Karottyc bonds to the user's soul of whomever the demon Karottyc chooses and makes them the Avatar of Karottyc, by giving them a new body and a full suit of advanced armor. So far, Behemoth has displayed the following powers:

Contaminant Immunity: Behemoth is also immune to all toxins, poisons, and disease.

Durability: Virtually Indestructible: With his force field active, Behemoth is virtually invulnerable to all forms of physical injury. Behemoth can be harmed by high-level mental attacks, mystical attacks, or weapons with mystical properties. When Behemoth's force field was negated by Mjolnir, he was still durable enough to exchange blows with Ættfaðir.

Force-Field: Behemoth is capable of generating a personal force field around himself, which greatly enhances his physical durability, to the point that the field was even able to withstand Mjolnir and Ættfaðir's God-Blast.

Immortality: Behemoth is immune to aging and has sometimes implied to be unkillable under normal means.

Irresistible Force Embodiment: Once he begins to advance in a certain direction, it is virtually impossible to halt his movement. Some obstacles such as many tons of rocks and plasma-discharge cannons have slowed his pace but cannot completely halt him. Ættfaðir's use of his God-Blast allowed him to stop Behemoth in his tracks.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite of his invulnerability, it is possible that Behemoth can be injured. If damaged, Behemoth possesses a regenerative healing factor that enables him to completely regenerate with superhuman speed. For instance, he has been injured by Sword of Might and healed instantly.

Self-Sustenance: Behemoth is completely self sustained, he has no need to breathe, eat, or drink. He does not tire, hence he cannot sleep, however his self generating mystical energies provide him with the nourishment of sleep, nutrition, hydration, and oxygen. He is sustained by his mystical energies alone. He once even kept talking and fighting after being reduced to a skeleton.

Stamina: Godlike: Behemoth's body generates no fatigue toxins during physical activity, granting him limitless stamina in all physical activities.

Strength: Incalculable: Behemoth is sometimes seems to possess virtually limitless superhuman strength. Using this strength he has been able to knock out Ele'ele O'Rokk with three blows, Ironclad, and even Ættfaðir.

Fighting Skills: Soldier: As a result of his days in the military and his experiences as a superhuman, the Behemoth is a formidable hand to hand combatant preferring to use street fighting and brawling techniques that allow him to make full use of his great strength.

Oansgard Elementals: The Gem sees the Elementals of Oansgard as the "enemy". In Kaino's first few days as the Behemoth, the Gem did everything in its power to get him away from Ragnarök - up to and including shifting Behemoth outside the universe. As Behemoth's experience with the Gem's armor has developed, the Gem has taken a more aggressive approach against Ragnarök, urging Behemoth to kill him. The spirits within the Infinity Hammer, for their part, fear the Gem, urging Ragnarök to respond in different ways depending on the spirits.

Truce With Nature: The Gem will not hurt nature, or the magical creatures thereof (beings who draw their power from nature, for example), of its own volition.

Alien Sentience: The Gem's sentience is distinctly demonic; while it will not hurt "nature", it has shown no such reluctance when it comes to humans, being willing to injure or kill them. Fortunately, Behemoth has so far prevented it from killing anyone.

Ancient God Tech: The Gem's Armor can be breached by the weapons of other ancient gods. Equally, however, the Gem is able to breach other Gem's armor. Originally, the Gem was unable to attack other ancient gods and their technology. Behemoth overrode the Gem's programming, 'reprogramming' it so that it was able to fight the ancient gods.

Magic: While the Gem is aware of magic, it does not understand it, despite being a creation of demonic forces originally. It is able to perceive, absorb, and disrupt magical energies, but little else. As a result, creatures of magic are often a significant challenge. The Gem cannot analyze certain mystical creatures, and so is unable to develop countermeasures for them. When faced with certain other mystical entities, such as Bastaphrꜵ, the Gem panics, offering Behemoth ever more powerful weapons to take them on.

Magnetic Shielding: Strong magnetic fields block the Gem's ability to track DNA.

Dispelling The Armor: Dispelling the armor originally caused Behemoth intense pain. As time has passed, however, Behemoth has found the process getting easier.

Cobalt Scarab Gem of Karottyc:

The Cobalt Scarab Gem has displayed the following abilities since its bond to Kaino Jaimie Reyko. It can opt to use its powers of its own accord, though it typically defers to Kaino. However, if Kaino does not want the Gem to use a power, he can override it. Should Kaino fall prey to a body-controlling power, the Gem will take control of the armor. Behemoth is able to summon and remove his mystic armor at will.

Cobalt Scarab Armor: The Gem can create a distinctive suit of armor in response to Kaino's thoughts, or when it deems use of the armor necessary. Once the Gem dispels the armor, it retracts back into Kaino's body.

Some of the Gem's powers can function regardless of whether the armor is active or not; others, however, only work when the armor is in use. Those powers that depend on the armor are listed below.

According to Kaino, the Gem has a number of "options" beyond those listed below, some of which are apparently capable of destroying a city.

Antagonist Adaptation: The armor can tailor its blasts for use against specific opponents (e.g., sonics against Éadóchas, suppression blast against a mob). The blasts can penetrate Ragnarök's Force Field. The armor can call up anti-magic effects against magical opponents. By the Gem's own estimation, it can even develop countermeasures that can take on REDACTED.

Armor Reconfiguration: The armor can reconfigure itself to create a wide array of tools and weapons, including an energy cannon, a sword and shield, a grappling hook, an energy blaster, claws, wings, and a set of large powered blades attached to the hands, over a foot in length, that can shear through tree trunks. The armor's equipment is mutable to a certain extent, most noticeably in the wings; initially, they were composed of the same solid 'carapace' which comprises the rest of the suit, but later, they began manifesting themselves in the form of a colorless, translucent material. Whether this is because of changes in the suit's capabilities, or because Kaino intended the alteration, has not been made clear.

Demonic Intelligence: Normally, the Gem's command sentience parameters, like artificial intelligence, stored in a Gem's database, gives a Scarab sentience and serves to make it obedient to the Avater. An infusion of mystical energies sometime in the distant past altered the Gem, denying the demon Karottyc control. When the Gem's infiltrator mode was triggered, the Gem was able to develop its sentience without being in service to the demon Karottyc. As a result, the Gem has its own mind, with full access to its own programming.

Clothing Manifestation: The Gem can create clothes for Kaino, apparently from recycled waste and skin, which melt when he takes them off. This, to Kaino, is one of the best things about this Gem, as clothing for someone his size is extremely expensive.

Concealment: The Gem is capable of concealing itself from 21^st century technology (though Cyberian, from the 38^th century, was able to find it). It can shut off cameras and microphones in its vicinity. The Gem has blocked a magical attempt to probe it, lashing out at the person who tried.

Energy Bubble: The armor is able to create a temporary energy bubble around Kaino and/or people nearby. The bubble shields those inside from outside attacks, but prevents them from leaving. A speedster who tries to vibrate through it will find themselves blasted by the bubble.

Energy Manipulation: The Gem can shape and manipulate the energy it stores for a variety of effects, including energy blasts, energy cocoons, small-scale solid constructs (shields, chains, etc.), and 3-D holograms. Its energy shields can block blasts from Sorceress of Fear.

Environmental Protection: The armor allows Kaino to survive in a variety of hazardous environments ranging from Eden's orbit to the timestream. It can survive extreme temperature and pressure. It can survive the heat and impact of atmospheric re-entry without seeming damage, even when the earth around it has been turned to glass.

Host Reconfiguration: The Gem can modify Kaino's body to a certain extent (e.g., offering to give him extra fingers), although just how far the modifications can go is unknown.

Metamorphosis

Network Connection: The Gem can establish a connection to communication systems, enabling Kaino to speak to the person on the other end.

Partial Armor Manifestation: Kaino can manifest parts of the armor - like the energy blaster - without needing to manifest the whole suit.

Sight of Karottyc: The Gem can scan the people Kaino encounters, informing him of any major physical conditions (such as pregnancy). It can identify and scan meta-mutants. It can identify people related to those it has already encountered via genetic analysis. The Gem is able to identify thought-patterns, enabling it to see if something is sentient. It can identify matching energy signatures, letting it see if the energy patterns were developed from the same basis. It can also see extra-dimensional objects. It is continually aware of the electricity in the surrounding environment. It can perceive magic, see how a magical effect can be dispelled, and see through magical concealment. The Gem's scans can cover at least a five mile square. It communicates the information it gleans to Kaino in a manner he can understand.

_____Temporal Flux Detection: The Gem can detect changes in the timeline affecting Behemoth's legacy; to Kaino, this manifests as intense static.

Symbiotic Synaptic Interface: The Gem's system is bonded to Behemoth's, letting the two share their thoughts and emotions. The Gem communicates with Behemoth as a voice in his mind (which sounds like Kaino's mother). No-one else can hear it.

Temporal Shifting: Kaino can shift into the space that connects the various universes. He can utilize the unique properties there for various effects, such as instantaneous teleportation, or shifting back in time a few minutes to appear in more than one place simultaneously. At best, he has only enough energy to dive into this space three times in quick succession.

Tracking Systems: The Gem can track anything which produces energy, be it biological, technological or mystical. It can track anyone Kaino met since it bonded with him, from at least seventy miles distant.

Translation: The armor can translate electronic communication into a form comprehensible to Kaino.

Vibrational Frequency Manipulation: The Gem can negate the vibrational frequencies of extra-dimensional objects, pulling them into this reality. The area of effect of this latter is unknown; it has been seen to affect objects at least the size of a satellite. According to the demon Karottyc, this should be impossible. The Gem can also shift Kaino out of phase with the universe, making him invisible and intangible to anything apart from demonic-tech.

Waste Disposal: While wearing the armor, Kaino finds that he does not need to go to the toilet.

Wing Shields: The armor can create a pair of wings, enabling Kaino to fly and hover. They can also double as shields, should the need arise.

_____Jet Propulsion: When in flight, the armor can manifest a 'jet engine', enabling Kaino to fly at greater speed, at the expense of close maneuverability.
