A Tibetan monk who was on a path through the mountains, exploring nature and communing with the universe, when The Great Burn swept across the peaks and physically knocking him off the ledge he was resting on. As he fell his body metamorphed into that of a great blue-skinned, white-haired ape. Twisting in the air he reached out and, with his now enormous hands, gripped the rocky mountain and held.

Using his newfound form and strength, Shǔ tiáo managed to climb out of the ravine and return to his monastary where he was greeting with fear and awe. Fortunately his new form allowed him human speech and he was able to convince his fellow monks of his identity. With prayer and meditation, Shǔ tiáo was able to return to his human form. But this was not to last.

Three years after his initial transformation bandits attacked the monastary and Shǔ tiáo, once again in distress, transformed into his beastly form and attacked the bandits. Sadly, in his rage and strength, Shǔ tiáo accidentally killed one of his attackers. This travesty caused his rejection by the monks and he was cast out of the monastary.

Now Shǔ tiáo, known by the locals as Xuěrén, wanders the mountains, keeping to the snow lines where his fur allows him to blend in, rescuing hikers and attacking bandits and their hideouts.

Though recognized as the official protector of the Xizang Autonomous Region, Xuěrén is still unwelcome in the different monastaries and rarely encouraged to visit by the villages, towns and cities.

Surprisingly, Xuěrén does not live like an animal. At one point in time he located a well-hidden cave system with a small stream that fed through cracks to become a source for a stream in a nearby ravine. Over time Xuěrén has gathered bits and pieces and fashioned himself furniture including a desk, chair, bed and even a stove so he does not have to eat raw meat.

On one of her missions exploring natural magical eddies around the Earth, Mirage came upon Xuěrén in his cave home as he was sitting in his chair, reading a book by candlelight. After a lengthy...conversation, Mirage decided to gift Xuěrén with some modern amenities. Using her magic, she conjured up a computer, generator, and several other updated items, including a wind turbine to capture the raging mountain winds for electricity.

Two years later Xuěrén had been able to increase in knowledge having found that his animalistic form was off-set with an incredible memory, speed of thought, and ability to absorb large amounts of information. Using online education, Xuěrén has earned quite a few degrees.

Cryokinesis: Xuěrén can generate ice from his hands.

Enhanced Strength: He is able to lift/press anywhere from 800 pounds to 25 tons.

Regenerative Durability: Xuěrén's bodily tissues are harder and more resistant to certain types of injuries than the bodies of normal humans. His physiology can withstand great impact forces, though he can be injured by many types of conventional weapons such as standard firearms and bladed weapons. However, he can withstand physical impacts, such as falling from several stories by landing on his feet without suffering any broken bones or sprains. Also, he is able to be physically struck by many superhumanly strong beings like Glacier and Aberration that would either severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no discomfort.

Enhanced Speed: Xuěrén can run and move at speeds up to 700mph.

Therianthropy: Each time Hēnglì Shǔ tiáo changes from human to Xuěrén he finds he has become even more animal like. Shǔ tiáo has vowed that he will stay in his Xuěrén-form unless returning to human-form is absolutely necessary.

Razor-Sharp Claws and Fangs: Xuěrén sports retractable, 3-inch razor-sharp claws at the tip of each finger and toe. Their natural edges, coupled with his strength, are sufficient to rend most conventional materials including flesh, wood, stone, and even metal effortlessly and enable him to climb up vertical surfaces by wedging his fingers and toes into the smallest of cracks. He possesses elongated canines that he can use, if he chooses to do so, as effective weapons in close-quarter combat situations.
