Born in an extremely impoverished and densely populated commune, Kayenc struggled for dominance in his small corner of the shanty town. He fought every kid he could and created a small gang that ruled the neighborhood. As he got older, he learned the value of planning ahead and studying his next opponent thoroughly. Soon he grew tired of his middling gang and ran away in order to learn all he could about be the most feared man on Earth.

Traveling he studied under ever mentor who would take him until he had learned all they could teach. He would then kill them and find another. Exceptionally meticulous, he succeeded in ferreting out local gang wherever he went and brutally beating each one until he was able to challenge their leader. He would then savagely murder them, take what he wanted, and then leave. Soon his reputation had risen high enough that he became a professional assassin, charging exorbitant amounts because he never failed.

Several times he took on students in order to find someone to be his perfect partner and eventual successor. He trained Francis Wayne, Serhiy Floyd and still could not find the right skill level. Then he was hired to assassinate a business woman who was suspected of corporate espionage. As he studied his target he found that she had an inner love of the kill and he felt that she could be the perfect woman to give him his perfect child. So he approached Yuriko Wu-San and threatened to expose her unless she agreed to carry his child, provided he kept the child and she would have no part in its life. She agreed and they consummated the agreement that night.

The next day, confident he had given her a child, he left in order to hunt down those who had hired him, and kill them in order to keep his reputation intact. Months later he found himself back in the Republic of Haiti feeling like something was wrong. Something was missing. So he turned to his secret journals and found his entries on Yuriko and the deal they had made. Tallying up the time, he realized that the baby should have been born by now, yet there had been no contact. And why had he forgotten? He immediately left in search of any trace of her.

His tracking led him to an old mystic who finally admitted, just before dying, that a spell had been used to cause people to forget. This complicated things and it was many years before he finally uncovered the information he had been seeking. He tracked her down to a jail in Ciudad de México, Imperio Mexicano Unido just in time to arrange a prison transport hijacking. Kidnapping her, he took her back to her home country where, after a lot of torture and maiming, got her to tell him where the child was. And what it was. The child was autistic. While he could have worked with that, the damage she had done with drugs and abuse could not be overcome. His one hope for a successor had escaped him.

Dropping off the near-dead body of Yuriko Wu-San, now called Slādé Kaine, he finally let his grief and frustration show, as he wailed bitterly within his compound. It was this heart-wrending pain that triggered his meta-mutant activation and he found himself writhing in agony as his entire body metamorphed. It was when his head and brain began to shift that he finally passed out.

Waking up the next day, Kayenc ali-Ban no longer looked human. He had become a pale sleek figure with death in its eyes. He had become Raptor.

Raptor Process:

When his powers activated, Kayenc was transformed. The transformation increased his overall height and muscle mass, permanently boosting his strength and physical attributes to much higher than they were before.

Thrill of a Fight: When Raptor's adrenaline kicks in, it causes him to temporarily increase his powers. This increase subsides when his adrenaline levels return to normal.

Climbing: His claws on both hands and feet give him an advantage in climbing, even sheer faces walls.

Fear Absorption: Raptor is able to absorb the psionic energy of the fear from others and amplify it back into his environment. This effect could quickly turn nearby people into a panicking mob. Raptor occasionally manifests an enlarged, menacing shadow when his fear power is in effect.

Gland Detection: Raptor is able to psionically sense the presence of other meta-mutants within a 25-mile radius of himself. He once proved to be able to detect a meta-mutant presence from farther away than those 25 miles as the more powerful the meta-mutant, the farther away he can detect them.

Psychoactive Pestilence: After a psychic backlash of his fear powers from an empath he was hired to kill, Raptor's fear-inducing ability changed to become a mental plague. Raptor soaks up negative emotion from his environment and converts it into a psychic attack that struck from within on the highest planes of the mindscape and broke down the physical/mental functions of the target. Victims would experience bodily symptoms such as fever, delirium and weakness while being psychically subjected to their personal fears or worst memories.

Shadow Power: Raptor is able to use his fear abilities with great control. He can absorb Fear-energy to turn it against those around him, inducing more intense fear within their minds by directing his "shadow force" at them. His targets will be paralyzed with fear. Raptor can also convert the Fear energy into even greater levels of superhuman strength, making him emotionally-charged as he fed off people's fears.

Specific Enhancement: In a recent altercation with Frostique, Raptor has found that his new form is highly resistant to her powers and his claws and psychoactive powers were extremely effective against her.

Superhuman Speed: His standard speed is that of a normal human in peak physical condition. But with an adrenaline boost he can move at subsonic speeds (approximately 760 miles per hour).

Superhuman Stamina

Superhuman Strength: Raptor's adrenaline increase boosts his physical strength, the upper limits of which tops 10 tons. Without the adrenaline boost, his standard strength is still superhuman, allowing him to lift/press slightly over 2 tons. However, with his Shadow Power he can feed off the fear of others and increase his strength to just over 20 tons.
