Animal Kingdom Connection:

Nahuāllia is a meta-mutant with the power to draw on the abilities of the animal kingdom through an energy field that connects every animal ever to have lived on Earth. Apparently, this field extends past Earth and exists as a universal concept. This power allows him to connect to the Universe's morphogenetic field, providing him unlimited access to all animals in the universe regardless of origin. This power also extends to non-animal microorganisms but not to plants, which are part of a universal field embodied by The Green; or fungi and molds, which are connected to a different field.

Animal Mimicry: Nahuāllia can mimic the abilities of any animal. He does this by either focusing on a specific animal near him, or, as he learning, by drawing power from the animal kingdom in general (this enables him to even mimic animals that are extinct). He does not grow wings to fly as a bird, nor does he form gills to breathe underwater when mimicking a fish, but he has occasionally been known to mimic the actual appearances of animals, such as adopting the claws of a wolverine temporarily. Lately he has begun to take on the aspects of the animals whose powers he is using at the time. This results in him changing into an animal as a werewolf changes into a wolf. Nahuāllia is also able to tap into more than one animal, e.g. during one fight he channeled the regenerative powers of a salamander and the camouflage of a chameleon.

Among the "animal powers" Nahuāllia has been known to use are:

_____The strength of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

_____The flight of a bird.

_____The swimming ability of a fish.

_____The speed of an ant.

_____The sonic blast of a pistol shrimp.

_____The sense of smell of a moth.

_____The agility of a snake.

_____The durability of a rhino.

_____The electricity of an electric eel.

_____The regeneration ability of a worm.

_____The wall-crawling of a spider.

_____The stench of a skunk.

_____The color changing of a chameleon.

_____The reproduction abilities of protozoa.

The level of Nahuāllia's abilities are not proportional to the size of the animal they are drawn from. Hence, drawing the jumping ability from a flea would allow him to cover great distances. However, taking the abilities of a larger animal does not result in diminished power for him.

Animal Empathy: In addition to his mimic abilities, Nahuāllia can make contact with animals, empathize with, "talk" to and see their thoughts and memories. This ability to transfer his life essence could allow him to survive even if his body has been killed.

Animal Control: Nahuāllia can, to a lesser degree, control animals by entering their minds. He can also transfer his mind to living animals of any kind, using their bodies as long as he wants to.

Force Blasts: Tapping into this connection to the Animal Kingdom, Nahuāllia can also fire powerful blasts of force of unidentified energy. However, drawing this energy reduces the energy in the field, and could cause a draining of life elsewhere, or upset the balance in the Universal Animal Kingdom. As this could lead to an extinction of a species somewhere, Nahuāllia refuses to use this ability unless forced or as a last resort.

Secondary Meta-Mutation:

Shapeshifting: During one particular fight with Fusion Burn, Nahuāllia was overly exposed to the radiation surrounding Fusion Burn and it seems to have activated a second meta-mutation. Now, Nahuāllia can shapeshift into whatever he wishes, though he tends to mimic animals more than people, and like a were-creature, can even stop mid-transition in order to have a humanoid-form with animal-like features and abilities. It also appears that Nahuāllia's animal-like abilities are stronger the more animal features he takes on. This means that, should he turn into a mountain lion (which is his favorite form) his cat-like abilities will be more enhanced than an average wild cat. However, he is not a were-creature, and therefore is not restricted to the limitations of a creature of the night. He can also retain full memory of himself, and therefore has his human consciousness while in his animal and transitional forms. In his transitional form he is able to stand erect on his legs and retain the use of his hands, but is also able to run and maneuver on all fours, if needed.

Zoologist: Due to his connection with the Animal Kingdom, Nahuāllia has extensive knowledge of all animals including their inherent instincts and languages.

Claws & Fangs: In his half & full animal form (specifically canine or feline), Nahuāllia possesses sharpened nails along with pronounced canines with which to rip and tear through most substances.

Communication: While in his animal form, Nahuāllia can not orally communicate with others. Instead he has the vocal cords of an animal and therefore barks, growls, grunts, whistles, etc. Although in animal form he is capable of communicating telepathically with other telepaths, he does not often work with teammates who are telepaths.

Power Limitation: Nahuāllia can only absorb the ability of another animal for approximately 30 minutes before having to recharge his connection with that creature. However, it appears his transitional form has no time limit.

Amore: Bernard was nineteen when he fell in love with Ellen Craig, the pastors daughter, who was only sixteen years old. Despite proposing on her seventeenth birthday, they waited until she was eighteen before getting married. Their son, Clifford Kevin Lee, was born a year later.

Belief System: Nahuāllia is Protestant though he did end up compromising his faith when, in animal form, he hunted down and killed the child molester who had murdered his 9-year-old son, Cliff.

Favorite Animal: His favorite form to take is that of a mountain lion. In the transitional form he stands eight-feet tall and weighs over 400-pounds.

Favorite Movie: His favorite Star Wars film is The Empire Strikes Back.
