History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

It is important to consider that Diana Pushkin lost her home at a young age, and only a few years later, was a lone wanderer in a war-zone hundreds of miles away. Exactly what traumas she experienced are unknown, but her experiences made her intensely self-reliant to the point that she rarely displays any weakness, nor does she readily ask others for assistance.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Diana does not value a sense of belonging over that of her cause, and will easily sacrifice her interpersonal relationships for her perception of the greater good.

Diana wants to be in complete control of her situation at all times. To this end, she will engage in wide-spread surveillance while simultaneously employing secrecy even from those with which she works. Unfortunately, her allies are typically not soldiers, and as such, often resent being used as ignorant pawns, no matter how heroic the outcome or how justified the need for operational security.

Powers

Biokinesis:

Genetic Sight: Kə'nekt can perceive the DNA in cells, living or dead, within close range. Combined with her innate analytical capabilities, this allows her to determine familial relationships between people and to understand a person's current and potential abilities.

Jump-Start: After analyzing the DNA of another meta-mutant, Kə'nekt is able to unleash latent meta-mutant powers or enhance existing meta-mutant powers. The process is irreversible and can often result in unpredictable side-effects. She can also restore meta-mutant abilities lost due to injury or attack.

Self Mastery: Kə'nekt has complete control over her personal physiology. She once consciously used her immune system to purge herself of mind-controlling nanites.

Mental Computation:

Kə'nekt is a meta-mutant with astonishingly advanced intellectual capabilities forged from a mind that works in the same way as a supercomputer would.

Eidetic Memory: Kə'nekt perfectly remembers everything she experiences. She can instantaneously retrieve every memory and any information she has perceived.

Kinetic Memory: Kə'nekt can perfectly execute any skill she has had a single lesson in without the need for practice.

Multitasking: Kə'nekt is able to perform multiple tasks at once by allocating a partition of her brain to each task. For example, Kə'nekt can use her mind to replay a movie she had watched previously, play a game of internet chess, and focus on battling an opponent without any one task distracting her from another.

Telepathy:

Kə'nekt has learned a great degree of telepathic talents that include detecting minds, mind-reading, projecting thoughts, astral projection, casting realistic mental illusions and a level of psionic defense unique to her.

Firewall: Kə'nekt is capable of creating her own unique psionic protection against outside mental influence. By erecting a psionic "firewall" Kə'nekt is able effectively protect herself from direct mental attacks, probes and detection of the mental variety while creating a defensive force that reflects any offensive mental action back at her attacker. The wall is effective in both directions, nearly eliminating her own psionic abilities while active.

Abilities

Gifted Intelligence:

Kə'nekt's meta-mutant intelligence makes her one of the smartest people on the planet through raw computational power and perfect recollection. This allows her to be an expert in every field that is well-documented or calculable, such as combat and technology, but less so for others, such as sociology and psychology.

Examples include:

Expert Engineer: Kə'nekt has displayed remarkable technical aptitude for electronics and mechanics, though she typically improves on existing designs rather than innovating new devices.

Peerless Hacker: Kə'nekt has access to countless digital records, public and private. She claimed she had access to any data network on the planet.

Hyperpolyglot: Kə'nekt is fluent in over 123 different languages.

Master Martial Artist: Kə'nekt is skilled in the martial arts, and is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant due to her having complete conscious control over her own body.

Weapons Expert: Kə'nekt is also self-taught in a wide range of firearms, which she can use with considerable skill and accuracy.

Interrogator: Kə'nekt's cold demeanor and ability to detect lies through body language has proven so intimidating that thugs and soldiers give up information quickly.

Pilot: Kə'nekt is a skillfull pilot as seen by her use of her mech-suit.

Medical Expertise

_____Trauma Treatment: Kə'nekt treated Princeps Rex after he was nearly killed by a horde of demons.

_____Forensics Expert: Kə'nekt is able to instantly and expertly identify a type of wound by its blood spatter pattern, pinpoint a shooter's position from bullet holes and determine causes of death of corpses.

_____Meta-Mutant Genetics Expert: Kə'nekt is able to identify all kinds of genetic material, human, meta-mutant and alien and, to a limited extent, simulate the effects of changing a genome.

Indomitable Will: Kə'nekt was born with an indomitable will and was trained to enhance it further. This has allowed her to resist being controlled by nanites, usurp possession, and prevent telepaths from reading or influencing her mind.

Paraphernalia

Cybernetic Sunglasses:

Kə'nekt wears a pair of custom-built cyber shades that function as a wireless broadband computer network among like models. The shades provide an audio/video feed via an in-built computer system outfitted with miniaturized conventional microphones and cameras, and can also project a three-dimensional image into her visual field that can be expanded to allow others to see with whom she is communicating or information they are reviewing. The shades provide input by means of an augmented reality iconographic keyboard, and have an alternate visual input system for when her hands are otherwise occupied. The shades can be interfaced with any external data network, such as her armor, whether terrestrial or alien in origin. The shades also possess various sensors for detecting telepathic resonance patterns, tracking energy trails, and analyzing electronic circuitry, among others.

Brigade Armor

Shell:

Kə'nekt coated her body from head to toe with a material made of a gold "memory metal" that was supercompressed and housed within the hollows of her bones, thereby reinforcing her skeletal structure when she was not using her armor. Once polarized, triggered by her thoughts, the bio-mimetic shell, or under-sheath, would stream out of her pores, in order to cover her skin and serve as a skintight, impact-resistant foundation upon which her external armor rested. Though not bulletproof, the shell is highly bullet resistant and can easily shrug off small caliber gunfire. Also, the shell somehow enhances Kə'nekt's physical strength to nearly superhuman levels and could repair damage she sustained, up to a certain limit. One drawback to the basic armor is that Kə'nekt cannot eat or drink while wearing it.

External Armor:

Capabilities vary per version, as she is constantly working on upgrades, but in all cases, it is a battery-powered external armor that is composed of a highly durable, non-conductive metal alloy. The armor, itself, is composed of nanobots that are housed within her belt and numerous pockets within her clothing. Once her under-sheath is in place, Kə'nekt is able to trigger the nano-bots to begin locking in place, forming her armor around her. The external armor is powered by high efficiency batteries called power packs installed in the shoulder pads.

Active Camouflage: Kə'nekt can also command the nano-robots to assume new configurations, which are stored as templates in her armors databanks. As a result, Kə'nekt's armor can adapt to a wide variety of missions. The "Camouflage Program" template changes the armor's color so Kə'nekt can blend in with her surroundings. Other templates enable Kə'nekt to safely operate in hostile environments ranging from the ocean floor (SeaQuest Mode) to the depths of outer space (Red Rocket Mode).

Helmet: Kə'nekt's helmet includes wide-range spectral scanning capabilities that enable her to see in wavelengths ranging from infrared to ultraviolet as well as granting her telescopic vision. This unit is fully integrated into the tracking and target sub-system that beamed a sighting crosshair onto Kə'nekt Cybernetic Sunglasses. The target sub-system determines target acquisition by following Kə'nekt's eye movements and then fires on mental command.

Jet Boots: Kə'nekt's jet boots that enable her to increase her flight speed. Each boot is equipped with miniature jet turbines that gather the surrounding air and then expel it as continuous thrust. Despite the turbines' small size, they actually have greater range and fuel efficiency than the bulky jet pack she uses for flight.

Jet-Pack: The Jet-Pack is a personal short-range propulsion rig that Kə'nekt employes for flight. She also has variants for underwater and space travel.

Life Support Systems: Besides the external armor itself, the nano-robots construct the suit's life support systems including temperature regulators and an internal air supply that activates when the armor is sealed for underwater or deep space travel. The armor is equipped with defense mechanisms to repel anyone who tries to remove it; Kə'nekt has said these defenses can harm even beings as powerful as Behemoth. Among these defenses is a high voltage electric charge generated by the armor's surface.

Self-Repair Function: The aforementioned nano-robots replicate themselves into pre-programmed forms. The nano-robots begin rapidly constructing Kə'nekt's external armor from the hidden pods, stored in her various pockets, outward. Hence, she can don her armor in seconds. Once empty, the nano-robot pods can be used by Kə'nekt for other storage. Kə'nekt's external armor is highly resistant to damage. If the armor is breached, the nano-robots composing it are programmed to replicate themselves to repair the damage.

Speech Synthesizer: Housed in the chin guard of Kə'nekt's helmet is her speech synthesizer which gives her a unique and chilling male voice. The synthesizer also enables her to reproduce other voices, which is useful for undercover missions. The synthesizer can also translate foreign languages thanks to a built-in Omni-Linguistic Communicator (OmLinC), for those languages Kə'nekt does not already know. Reverse engineered by Kə'nekt from scans of the communicator incorporated in The Engineer's headpiece, the OmLinC can analyze and translate any unfamiliar language, human or alien, in seconds.

Weapons

Weapons:

Armcannons: This forearm mounted cannons fire a blast of compressed air capable of knocking down an opponent at a distance of 12 feet. However, these air blasts are primarily intended to propel special cartridges or "shells" that create various effects. At any given time, the Armcannons are loaded with six shells in a rotating drum at the base of her gauntlet.

_____Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot: The outer shell tears away to reveal a solid sharpened rod of depleted uranium.

_____Cryonic: This shell generates intense cold to place an opponent in suspended animation.

_____Explosive/Incendiary: A high explosive charge coupled with a blast of heat.

_____Flame Retardant

_____Flechette: This shell's casing tears away to release dozens of tiny razor-sharp darts. Sometimes, Kə'nekt will coat these darts with a fast-acting anesthetic drug.

_____High Explosive Armor Piercing: A shaped explosive charge with a specially hardened penetrating tip.

_____Knockout Gas: A custom-made chemical gas compound engineered not to penetrate Kə'nekt's shell. The gas knocks out anyone who comes in contact with it for several minutes.

_____Stun: This shell creates a blinding flash of light and a deafening popping sound.

_____Tear Gas: A custom made tear gas engineered not to penetrate Kə'nekt's armored shell.

Energy Field: Worn on her forearm, this device creates an energy barrier that protects Kə'nekt from incoming fire. The field can withstand armor-piercing bullets, energy blasts, and even small explosions at close range.. Despite this, the field is not indestructible; sustained heavy weapons fire will cause the field to lose power and eventually collapse.

Inertial Dampener: The inertial dampener is a device of Kə'nekt's own design based on the single episode of Star Trek she watched, that can absorb and store kinetic energy. Two of these devices are known to exist on Earth. Kə'nekt created this device when she realized that the weight of the armor would be unwieldy. So, she installed the dampener into her belt buckle. There it offset the armor's weight as well as much of her own weight. Hence, Kə'nekt can move with unusual dexterity and agility as well as move quietly in the bulky suit.

Retractable Sword: The retractable sword consists of four magnetized blade segments of varying length. When a reverse magnetic charge is applied to the segments, magnetic repulsion pushes the segments from their housing. The sword's full length is 30 inches when extended. By altering the charge's polarity, the segments are retracted into their housing. The sword has double edges that are kept razor sharp by an automatic sharpening mechanism that edges the blades every time they retract.

Trivia

(Physical Features/Speaking Voice/Likely Vocabulary/Characteristics/Mannerisms)

Age Similarity: Kə'nekt and Xuěrén are the same age.

Belief: Diana is an atheist.

Enslaved: At an unspecified time in her life, Diana was sold to a harem, but escaped.

License Plate: The license plate on Kə'nekt's car was in binary: 0010110.

Misconception: There is often a misconception that Diana is able to control computers with her mind (cyberpathy/technopathy), or that she is a cyborg. Neither is the case. Kə'nekt must interact with computers in a normal fashion, or through her augmented-reality glasses. Though she possesses computer or machine-like attributes, these abilities are all functions of her meta-mutant powers. The term "cyberpathy" was used to refer to the mental processing abilities and advanced control over her bodily functions rather than the ability to mentally control computers. Kə'nekt is fully human (meta-mutant) without any cybernetic enhancements.

Missing Tooth: Diana Pushkin is missing a front tooth.

Pressure Point: Diana has a pressure point on her body that allows her to reboot her mind like a computer.

Tattoos: The tattoo-like scars on her face have disappeared at various times. They reappear in times of stress. She has faded markings reminiscent of her facial scars around her upper left arm.

Telepathic: Many telepaths demonstrate variants of her enhanced intelligence, and rapid information absorption. It could be concluded that her computer-like mind is derived from her telepathy.

Who Is Sonya?: Diana mentions a Sonya ("I want to go home to Sonya"). Sonya is not the name of any of Diana's known relatives.
