History

Written by: Joshua W. Murcray

James Warlock is no stranger to the life of a super-powered human being. As a wannabe reporter and occasional photographer for the Nieuw Amsterdam Times, James would find himself writing or photographing the battles between super-powered beings. Traveling the world to document these beings gave him experience and he soon was on a first name basis with many of the heroes. Even the villains left him alone for the most part so he could document their side of the story as well. James became slightly famous for his blogs and news articles in which he would write his interviews with various super-powered people.

That is, until his trip through the Parque Nacional Delta del Orinoco in the Democratic Republic of Venezuela while checking out rumors of a giant man-leopard when a tear in space opened near them and a giant man-tiger fell through the tear! Just before the tear closed a spray of darts came through, one of them striking James.

As his men took cover, the man-tiger managed to escape into the jungle, leaving the group to find James convulsing. The dart had injected him with some form of techno-organic virus that was transforming his entire body. But unbeknownst to James, his body had a natural morphological adaptation that he was born with, which is why he was able to survive watching all the battles, despite powers and radiation and the like being scattered around the battle zones. Turns out that James had been born with an already activated meta-mutant gland.

His body took the techno-organic virus and mutated it to not be deadly and to keep him from losing his mind. However, since the virus could not complete its programming, it caused James to sometimes "glitch" and transform.

Now, Jimmy the Glitch, or Glitch, has become an ace reporter and photographer for the largest newspaper in the world, The Planet Bugle, and is respected as a fair and unbiased newsman among both good and bad super-powered beings.

Powers

Techno-Organic Shapeshifting:

James Warlock is now a techno-organic being, with his form constantly changing shape. He can approximate any organic form as well-- appearing human when necessary. James's physiology is also able to survive within the vacuum of space. When "feeding," he can absorb pure energy, like electricity from an outlet.

Because of his new body, Glitch has a standard set of powers that he always has no matter what form he takes. These powers include:

Enhanced Vision: Glitch's vision is sharper and has better range than an average human.

Longevity: Due to his ability to repair himself, Glitch does not age at the same pace as humans. So far it is unknown what his aging rate is, as he has not had these abilities long enough for proper assessment.

Metamorphosis: As seen in image above Glitch can alter his form into any shape he wishes. Most of the time it is voluntarily.

Superhuman Agility: Due to is flexibility, Glitch can bend and twist like a rubberband without any discomfort.

Superhuman Reflexes: Due to his speed, his reflexes are vastly greater than the average human.

Superhuman Speed: Glitch can move in space at near light speed. On the ground, or within an atmosphere, his speed is reduced but still faster than the speed of sound.

Superhuman Stamina: His body does not produce fatigue toxins but it does require energy. Therefore, as long as he is able to recharge every now and then, his body can operate at peak efficiency limitlessly.

Superhuman Strength: At full charge Glitch can lift/move up to 100 tons without straining.

Nanite Enhancement:

As the techno-organic virus he is infused with is nano-technology, Glitch can repair his body as it is damaged. The technology allows his body to "upgrade," adapting to any given situation. The nanotechnology also allows him to mimic forms as well as weapons. Glitch also possesses various energy weapons and a force field.

Due to his human body rejecting the techno-organic nanites when he first was infused with them, he has a tendency to glitch. This glitching can cause him to alter shape in a peculiar fashion or develop a scaled down version of some super-powers. These powers have always been temporary, and usually disappear within a twenty-four hour period. Some of these powers include the following:

Atomic-Shield

Bio-Fission

Cosmic Brain

Elasticity - Electromagnetic Spectrum Vision - Energy Projection

Flight

Heat Vision

Infrared Vision - Invisibility

Microscopic Vision - Molecular Reconstruction

Prehensile Hair - Pyrokinesis

Size Alteration - Super-Breath - Super-Hearing

Telepathy - Telescopic Vision

X-Ray Vision

Paraphernalia

James Warlock's Camera: Over the years, James has used a wide variety of cameras for his work as a photographer. He has a great eye for almost impossible shots at even more impossible angles, and is usually The Planet Bugle's first choice to get the job done. Since his new body can shape-shift, Glitch now can transform his hands into a camera and take digital photos, and then alter his fingers into USB drives in order to upload the photos to a computer.

James Warlock's Signal Watch: A wristwatch equipped with an electronic device that tracks when James is about to glitch. Somehow the device monitors his techno-organic body and can detect abnormalities that will lead to him glitching. The wristwatch warns James of an oncoming glitch, something he cannot stop, and then proceeds to count down the minutes until the transformation will end and James can return to normal.

Weaknesses

Vulnerability to Magic: Magic energy is at a frequency that disrupts his techno-organic matrix and causes him pain.

Trivia

(Physical Features/Speaking Voice/Likely Vocabulary/Characteristics/Mannerisms)

Bachelor: Although James Warlock is a life-long bachelor, he was at one point married to an ape in a ceremony officiated by SUPRgIrL (who became a licensed minister for this occasion) when a glitch transformed James into a techno-organic ape for 24-hours. However, the marriage was not legally recognized in the United Protectorates (or anywhere else, really) and is considered annulled.

Cause & Effect: The study of the techno-organic virus within Glitch is what will lead to the one-day creation of the cyber-virus that will be used in the future to turn animals into programmable robots. It is also what will be used to shoot at Cyberian and will strike James when Cyberian travels through time.

Lasting Mark: Glitch has a scar on the inner side of his right leg where he cut himself as a child. Despite his transformation and ability to repair himself, the "scar" is still there when he in "human" form.

Transformations: Some glitches have resulted in James transforming into: a giant turtle-man, a werewolf, a giant bird, and a gorilla; just to list a few.
