Return With Me To Valdemar

If you haven't known this about me before you will soon realize that I love science-fiction and fantasy stories.

One of my favorite authors is Mercedes Lackey. Her series, called Heralds of Valdemar series, is one of my all-time favorite series! I’ve read all of them at least twice…some more than that.

In her book, The Valdemar Companion she did an interview in which she stated that whenever she writes a new book for this series, she has to re-read her other books in order to make sure her timeline of events will fit with what she has already put down.

In other words, when she was writing Take a Thief...

...She had to make sure that the character Alberich didn’t say he did something in his past that wasn’t already mentioned in the previous books that were about Alberichs life, called Exile’s Honor.

To me this seems like a lot of time spent on research that could be better used for writing so we fans don’t have to wait so long for the next one in the series.

This struck me as a job a dedicated fan should do and that dedicated fan was me! I shall take up the effort of this task and perform it with a determined and eager heart!

And thus I began the long journey through the annals of her novels. Traveling through the story, one book at a time, I noted each event, the weather, the time of the year, the time of the day, and each name as it came across the page.

It has taken several years, with real-life interfering with my quest, and I must admit that I have only come half-way. It is a daunting journey I have set myself, but it is one I look forward to the finish line as it means that, hopefully, Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon may benefit from this and their books may come with increasing speed.

Why am I telling you all of this, you may ask.

Go ahead. Ask. I’ll wait.

...

...

...

Glad you asked! I am telling you this because I feel it is wrong of me to keep my work a secret any longer. It is time to share what I have done thus far so that you, my adoring followers, can journey with me as we watch the world of Velgarth unfold before us!

In my next blog, which I know you are all anxious to view, I will be posting my Valdemar Timeline as I have it. As I continue to map out the events that are in her books, I will be updating my blog so keep an eye out for what date I put at the top of my blog.

And...if you happen to know how to get a hold of Mercedes Lackey or Larry Dixon, feel free to point them in this direction. I’m really hoping this work gets to them, in order to help them out, and to help all of us understand just what an amazing job they have done with their writing.

Creating a whole world with a timeline that spans thousands of years! It’s amazing!

But enough of this. You want the Timeline...so I will give you the Timeline!

UPDATE:
Both Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon have noticed this Timeline AND have encouraged me to continue, even asking me to help with continuity in future projects!!

This is SO exciting!

Now, thanks to an enormous amount of work from Trica from the Valdemar Wiki, this Timeline is expanding on an almost daily basis!

SCRIPT

Star Trek: Deep Space 9 Unused Script

Okay, so this isn't official.

This is a sample of a script that I wrote for the Season Premier of Season 7 of ST: DS9.

I was hoping to finish it in time to send it in...but then LIFE got in the way and I wasn't able to complete it in time.

Elseworld Ideas

Elseworlds is the publication imprint for a group of comic books produced by DC Comics that takes place outside the company's canon.

The imprint presents narratives in which existing characters or storylines are introduced to an entirely new idea or concept and often put into alternate timelines or realities.

Unlike its Marvel Comics counterpart What If...?, which bases its stories on a single point of divergence from the regular continuity, most Elseworlds stories instead take place in entirely self-contained continuities, with the only connection to the canon DC continuity being the presence of familiar DC characters.
