History

Mercenary and former MI:X agent gone rogue; Wade was one of the most cold-blooded killers in the organization. Then, one day while infiltrating the Russian Syndicate, Wade was captured and tortured.

Unknown to him, MI:X had mounted a rescue team to extradite government agents within the Syndicate before it collapsed.

Wade, amid being mutilated for torture, was rescued by his ex-partner in the MI:X; who still believed in the goodness within Wade.

As they were escaping, his ex-partner stepped in front of Wade, taking the brunt of a grenade blast for him. The blast hurtled Wade back into the room, slamming into a wall of laboratory chemicals, shattering the glass containers and causing his maimed and tortured body to be bathed in the unknown contents.

As he lay in a pool, holding his dead ex-partner (and ex-lover) in his arms, believing he was dying, the walls shook as the charges the rescue team had placed, exploded!

Overhead lights sparked and wires fell away from the crumbling ceiling, landing in the pool of chemicals in which Wade sat.

Suddenly and painfully, Wade was electrocuted for several seconds until the base's power grid died.

Somehow the chemicals, electricity, and will to survive altered Wade West on a cellular level giving him mastery of velocity!

Able to now channel his speed into healing or movement, Wade took on the name Deadrun and with the example of his ex's sacrifice to inspire him, Deadrun travels time and space with The T.I.T.A.N.S., righting the wrongs caused by the sins of the wicked.

Powers

Genetically Enhanced Physiology:

Deadruns powers come from the combination of torture, experimental chemicals and electricity altering him on a cellular level. His new genetic make-up has granted him superhuman powers, like:

Superhuman Speed:

Deadrun is able to tap into the Bowen Force granting him superhuman speed like Flair's. This is his most prominent superhuman ability. Deadruns top speed has not been clocked, but thus far he has been able to run completely around the world so fast it did not appear he even left. After his tortured body was electrocuted and doused in chemicals, Wade gained a mainline-connection to the Bowen Force, meaning he cannot be cut off from its energy. Wade is one of, if not the fastest of all speedsters, rivaled only by Flair. Wade is perhaps the fastest person that has ever existed. He is fast enough to easily break all the barriers and even enter the Bowen Force. Wade has, on several occasions, traveled much faster than light and entered and exited the Bowen Force by his own volition. Deadrun is considered to be one of the most formidable and powerful superhumans on the planet.

Deadrun can move faster than thought and with the aid of other T.I.T.A.N.S. members, came up with a plan within 1 second. Deadrun managed to move so fast that time apparently appeared to be frozen around him. Theoretically, speeds greater than Mach 10, are dangerous to both people and to the environment, but the Bowen Force has shown that if needed, Deadrun can use it to prevent such effects from occurring, hence why he is able to run at speeds much faster than light on the planet Earth without it having devastating effects on the planet. He can also run across bodies of water and up the sides of buildings. He is able to save and carry over half a million people 35 miles away from a nuclear warhead that had already detonated including the ones at ground zero in only .0001 microseconds (10 picoseconds, or 1/100,000,000,000th of 1 second) - a feat that would require moving 13 trillion times the speed of light.

Aerokinesis: By running in a circle at a certain speed, Deadrun can create a vortex with a variety of effects. One effect is pulling the air away from the center in order to suffocate an enemy. Another effect is levitating whoever and whatever was in the center. Also, able to send anyone or anything into another dimension when running around them. Some other effects are acting as barriers to movement or funnels for toxic gases. Deadrun also can spin his arms to create directed funnels of hurricane speed air that can knock down barriers or reduce the speed of a falling object. When putting out forest fires, what Deadrun does when he runs around the perimeter is create a pocket tornado. The updraft lowers the temperature inside the funnel and raises the fire off the ground which takes away its fuel source.

Chronokinesis: Deadrun has shown to be able to traverse time with his own powers. He can traverse along the time-stream to specific points as they become visible, much like watching a movie in fast forward or reverse. In order to time travel to different periods, he must exceed light speed, which he can easily and instantly do. He first learned how to traverse through time from Flair.

Dimensional Travel: Deadrun has shown to be able to traverse dimensions with his own powers. Deadrun accelerates to the point that he is skirting the very edge of the Bowen Force dimension or even entering it. In order to enter the Bowen Force dimension he must exceed light speed, which he can easily and instantly do. Deadrun has claimed to visit another universe that he labeled Earth-616 and another named New Earth.

Disease Immunity: Deadruns unique physiology, with his speed and his regenerative abilities, also extend to his immune system; he is immune to all diseases, infections, disorders, imperfections and resistant to elemental extremes.

Electrokinesis: Deadrun can generate and manipulate the electrical energy that he draws from the Bowen Force. This Bowen Force lightning emanates off him whenever he uses his powers, as a side-effect of his muscles processing the Bowen Force. Deadrun has immense control over the energy, to the extent that he was able to tap into each speedster's energy to remove the Bowen Force's death aspect from within them

Electromagnetism: Due to his electrical abilities, Deadrun can manipulate magnetism to some extent. He was able to latch onto a large truck with his Bowen Force energy, and use his momentum to guide it.

Empathy: The Bowen Force grants Deadrun an empathetic connection to other conduits of the Bowen Force. He can sense when another Bowen Force user is troubled, and can be drawn to the location of that speedster.

Energy Construct Creation: Deadrun discovered if he concentrated, his Bowen Force energy could be used to create solid constructs, which he commonly used to compose his Deadrun costume. The first time he used this ability he created a solid armor, enabling him to run despite having broken legs. Later examples included sealing up the openings of his costume against the vacuum of space, creating pockets for holding things, and even creating Bowen Force civilian clothes. He was also able to construct a vibrational prison of Bowen Force energy to hold enemies.

Energy Projection : Deadrun is able to project his electrical Bowen Force energy in certain cases, such as when he is giving momentum to objects.

Energy Transference: Deadrun has used his Bowen Force lightning to amplify Umhambi's magnetic abilities by a significant amount.

Energy Transformation: When approaching the threshold of light speed, Deadrun generates so much energy that he essentially becomes pure Bowen Force energy.

Enhanced Senses: Deadrun's enhanced senses allow him to perceive normally at super-speed, as well as alter his perceptions so that falling objects can appear to be standing still. His ability to alter his own perception of time is so great, that if he wishes, the tick between a second can pass for millions of years. He can even push this ability to the point, that to him, it is as if the Universe is standing still. It does not truly stand still, it is his own perception of time that seems to stand still, and his body automatically adjusts to his perception, hence, the slower he views the world, the faster his body moves through time/space to adjust to his perception. Deadrun can also feel the slightest changes in temperature of molecules in the air. When he traveled to Hell, Deadrun's senses automatically adjusted to the realm's atmosphere by blocking out its disturbing sounds and smells.

Enhanced Vision: By shifting his vibrational frequency, Deadrun could see through the highly advanced cloaking technology of B'Washenga. Deadrun was also one of the few beings who can see Amp and his species in their natural state, beings comprised of pure electricity. His enhanced vision also allows him to be a very safe driver on the road.

Flight: By spinning like a helicopter, he can even perform a limited kind of flight.

Force Field: Deadrun's body is surrounded by what he calls his "Force Field aura". This aura protects him and anyone who is running with him or carried by him, from the effects of using his speed. This includes friction and airborne particulate matter. Deadrun can sync his aura with his normal humans, giving him the ability to pull them alongside him with a thought. Deadrun has also used his Force Field aura to contain a bomb from detonating, as his aura allowed him to slow down the nitric and sulfuric reactions in the explosive.

Foreign Chemical Resistance: Deadrun's body is highly resistant to poisons and most drugs. For example, it is extremely difficult, though not impossible, for him to become intoxicated. He can, momentarily, be affected by certain drugs (tranquilizers) if exposed to a large enough dosage and only when his speed-healing is not activated.

Immortality: Deadrun's healing factor provides him with an endless lifespan by halting the aging process. His life span is extended to such a degree that an alternate reality version of him was alive and still in business as Deadrun 800 years in the future. He was also cursed with immortality by Chernobog on behalf of Thanoyama, in order to keep him away from Death.

Intangibility: Deadrun can vibrate his molecules to achieve an intangible state. While in an intangible state, Deadrun is immune to any airborne viruses and can breathe regularly. He can also vibrate so fast that light does not reflect off him, rendering him invisible.

Invisibility: On Earth-668, Deadrun can use his super-speed to turn invisible. When he traveled back in time, he stayed invisible so that the people of the past couldn't detect him.

Molecular Acceleration: Deadrun has absolute control of his body's atoms and molecules. He can vibrate his molecular structure at various levels to achieve various effects. If he chooses, Deadrun can excite the molecules of whatever substance he vibrates through to critical mass causing it to explode. He can even vibrate atoms back to solid form.

Possession Resistance: Like telepathic immunity, Deadrun can remain in control of himself while supernatural beings are trying to take control of him. No one can touch his soul.

Power Absorption: Deadrun can absorb the speed and/or momentum from anyone or anything. He has used this ability to leave his enemies suspended in place.

Power Distribution: Deadrun is able to "lend" velocity to objects or people already in motion. He has used this power to grant speed boosts to other speedsters. Deadrun can even share speed on the molecular level, allowing him to accelerate chemical bonds, as well as lend speed to electrons in order to massively boost a computer signal.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Deadrun possesses a superhuman healing factor similar to Trident which allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. His head or any other limb can be reattached using this ability. While beheaded, Deadrun can still move his body normally. In small doses, Deadrun's blood has demonstrated the ability to heal others and extend their lifespans beyond their natural limits.

Supercharged Brain Activity: Deadrun's mental abilities are also increased in speed, simple computations can be done at lightning speeds, and his ability to perform normal feats at increased speeds has allowed him to build hundreds of force field generators in a matter of minutes, move sandbags to cover a beach or search an entire area for something as small as a paper clip. Deadrun can also read at super-speed, but rarely takes advantage of this ability to learn at increased speeds, although Tri-Force has done so and has become experienced in nearly all trades in several disciplines and languages.

Superhuman Agility: Deadrun's agility, flexibility, dexterity, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete. He is able to easily maneuver on falling debris and objects, while moving at super-speed.

Superhuman Durability: Deadrun's bone and muscle tissues are augmented to levels that are considerably stronger and harder than human and the tissues are impervious to injury to an extraordinary extent. He possesses a golden-proportioned body, and even without training his muscles are brawny and his body shape doesn't change no matter how many calories he intakes. Due to his body being surrounded by his protective "Force Field aura", Deadrun's durability is heightened even more to immense levels. It protects him from injury from high-speed impacts such as punches he delivers and receives from his opponents.

Superhuman Reflexes: His reflexes are far superior to those of even the finest human athlete. His auto-reflexes allow him to easily dodge gunfire and attacks even when not consciously aware of them. He is able to easily perceive the movements of other speedsters, and react to danger and events.

Superhuman Stamina: Deadrun's musculature generates considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human being, granting him superhuman levels of stamina in all physical activities. Deadrun has run for days without rest and food. He was able to run non-stop for over 10 days straight without tiring, through time and space across all of existence, at speeds far beyond light.

Superhuman Strength: Deadrun can use his speed to boost his natural strength to levels superior to the average human being. He is strong enough to lift 800lbs with no sign of physical strain, even while running with it. He has single-handedly reconstructed several buildings, moved heavy beams and girders into place, lifted and carried pieces of concrete from stone columns over his head, and even pushed back and kicked a giant metal ball going at high speed, preventing it from doing damage to the city.

Telepathic Immunity: When not using his speed powers, Deadruns healing abilities cause his brain to be in a constant state of flux and regeneration, rendering him immune to psychics like Thunderbird or Archimage. Deadrun can be looped into a telepathic psi-link to communicate with others mentally, but reading his mind can be confusing, even to an accomplished telepath like Onyx. This immunity does not prevent him from being attacked psychically though.

Investigation: Although he is not on the same level as Flair, Deadrun has shown that he is bright enough to figure out anagrams and solve a murder mystery, before most people could figure it out. Somaravas states, that he finds Deadrun to be brilliant.

Master Assassin: During his time as an agent of MI:X, and even afterwards, Deadrun became a master of assassination techniques, espionage methods, covert operations, infiltration methods, escape artistry, marksmanship and is highly skilled with many bladed weapons and a number of other weapons including firearms. However, once he gained his speed skills, his use of weapons has significantly been reduced.

Master Martial Artist: Deadrun is an extraordinary martial artist, hand-to-hand combatant, and is a master in multiple unarmed combat techniques, including Savate. He has been shown fighting such amazingly skilled fighters as Trident and Deathmaster and even defeating them in hand to hand combat. This shows that Deadrun himself is among one of the most skilled fighters in the Amalgam Universe, although in some fights it has been attributed to him being unpredictable. Medium Awareness: After being tortured and electrocuted and coming close to the brink of death, Deadrun became consciously aware that he is a fictional character - though he noted he had always known subconsciously - allowing him to break the Fourth Wall. Wade does not always possess this ability due to the constant changes in his brain. References to the Fourth Wall made by those with similar abilities to him can trigger his medium awareness.

Multilingual: In addition to English, Deadrun is fluent in Esperanto, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

Swordsmanship

Unpredictability: It is difficult for anyone to know what Deadrun will do at any given moment, given that he himself barely knows what he will do at any given moment. This makes it difficult for most opponents to predict what he will do. Deathmaster, whose abilities allowed him to analyze and copy the speedster's fighting style, once believed Deadrun always dodged to the left. Deadrun proved him wrong, however, by completely changing his fighting style on a whim, throwing off Deathmaster's abilities.

Deadrun - Art by uncannyknackRorschach Costume: Deadruns costume is a form of Rorschach test. The colors of his costume are constantly shifting as the speed aura surrounding Deadrun adjusts to compensate for friction and velocity. Deadrun has learned to use this suit in combat, deliberately altering speed and movement to change the colors to what he desires to look like, causing his opponents to experience disorientation.

Weaknesses

Annoyance: Deadruns incessant talking has also proven to make him a very irritating person to be around. Many heroes often find themselves at wits' end around him. Normally this makes him a poor teammate, but, again, his babbling seems to be in control when he is around his fellow T.I.T.A.N.S. However, during fights, his constant spewing of nonsense are distracting and hurtful to his opponents, often causing them to either surrender or commit suicide.

Healing: Deadrun cannot speed-heal himself while also using his speed for movement. While using his speed for velocity his injuries will heal at a normal human rate. When speed-healing he cannot move faster than an Olympic-level sprinter.

Mental State: Deadruns healing abilities, mixed with his speed, render his brain unreadable to telepaths, but its constant healing or supercharged brain activity also makes him highly unstable and prone to outbursts without the slightest provocation, at least against those he knows he could handle. Interestingly, being in the presence of his fellow T.I.T.A.N.S. calms him and his outbursts are very rare in their midst.

Phobias: Deadrun has bovinophobia, the fear of cows. He believes that cows' stares are chilling. He also has an overwhelming fear of being truly and udderly alone (pun intended).

Time Travel: Although Deadrun can travel through the time stream at will, he is unable to change the past. He can bring only one adult-sized individual with him, but doing so is a tremendous strain.

Astrological Sign: Deadrun was born on November 6th, making him a Scorpio.

Body Mutilation: Deadrun is covered in scars from his torture, chemical burns and electrocution that will not heal as they occurred before his meta-mutant abilities were triggered.

Handwriting: Deadrun apparently has beautiful penmanship.

Likes & Dislikes: Deadrun hates the band Creed, but loves Star Wars, Star Trek and has seen every Jackie Chan movie ever made.

Meta-Mutancy: While he is listed to be a Meta-Mutant, Deadrun claims that he is not. His self-proclaimed origin story suggests he is just a victim of circumstance, but scientists who have studied the meta-mutant gland believe he is a meta-mutant, just unaware of it.

Obsession: He commonly develops obsessions with words and people, repeatedly mentioning the words duodenum and chimichanga, the phrase "Sphincter says what?" and is frequently preoccupied by thoughts of Bea Arthur and the Olsen Twins.

Personality: Quick to act without thinking and is very impulsive. Presents a morally grey personality, with no problem of disregarding other people, though he does feel bad for somebody being verbally abused.

Shaving: Deadrun is not very good at shaving as he hasn't had facial hair to shave for a long time.

Super-Fan: Deadrun is a HUGE fan of SUPErMn and even as a child was a member of a SUPErMn Fan Club.

Thou Shalt Not: Despite being a trained assassin, Deadrun refuses to kill children. Even on one of his time trips when he came across Hitler as a baby, he refused to kill the baby, despite knowing the horrors the child would do as an adult and, instead, considered the idea of bringing Deathmaster to the past to do it. But he never did.
